A little roster update

How many Montana kids each year are of FCS quality?

Assuming a redshirt season, twenty - give or take. There are two to three guys of FBS caliber. That gets you to about half the roster, or close, on each side of the divide.

I am curious what Spanky thinks, but doubt he will reply.

So what's your number?

I get Spanky has been making the loudest comments, but it will be interesting to hear what everyone else thinks.

Sorry I don’t come up to your standard. I’ve never said I oppose Montana players on the team….just not 50% of the roster. I will add that my family had several outstanding athletes, one winning AA tennis championship 3 years. Another, held state 440 record 10 years. Hell, I don’t know if you even went to UM?

Is this the new "you never played the game"?

Sort of like that. He doesn’t have a clue what he’s talking about. Neither does his buddy Helena.

I've given you several examples and stats about how you're just completely off base, and you've provided nothing but your own beliefs.

Idaho State has less Idaho players on their roster than UI. Cal Poly has 109, and EWU 58 "blue blood" California and Washington boys on their roster, and they both suck. MSU has the exact same number of Montana kids on their roster that we do, but they're competing for national championships.

I understand that your feeling tells you that we're not as good as we could be because we have too many Montana boys on our team, but the reality is that your feeling is just wrong. It's not that simple, not matter how many times you want to throw around that SDSU and Idaho have precisely the golden amount of 21 home-grown recruits on their teams. There's a ton more that goes into whether a team is good or bad than strictly what state their kids come from.

I'd give you a lot more respect if you engaged with the things I've pointed out here and in other threads than simply saying I'm an idiot without addressing a thing I've said.

Congratulations. Either you are being deliberately obtuse or you completely missed the point.

I guess I missed the point. What was the point?

What makes you the all knowing expert? I would be happy to compare my knowledge of athletics with yours. Further, I’m beginning to remember you. I think you were the guy that ridiculed me when I took the minority position the Griz would beat Washington?

I'm not claiming to be an expert, I'm just challenging your assertion with actual examples that prove it wrong.

And yeah, I didn't think we were going to beat Washington.

Unlike you, though, I can admit when I was wrong.

I would be happy if you would actually share your knowledge on the topic of discussion. Ten pages in and nothing.

You seemed to be giving uofmman a hard time, insinuating that maybe he hadn't even gone to UM. (Which is the part of your post that I bolded when I replied to it.) It just seemed silly to me. As if the new standard for being a fan and having an opinion means not only having "played the game" but also having gone to UM. I hope that's not what you were implying because it's a pretty impossible standard.

You haven’t proved I was wrong. All you’ve done is pile on me with your buddies in an effort to ridicule me. Just like you did when I stated on this forum the Griz would beat Washington.

Well, I suppose if you ignore everything I've presented to you (which you have and continue to), it is indeed hard to prove you wrong when your entire evidence is simply "I believe it, so it must be true".
