A crucible moment for the 2015 Montana Grizzlies

BW - aren't you going to be glad when you don't have to do your annual "nobody circles the wagons like the Grizzlies speech?" Me too. I think it was with four to go last year. As it looked from that moment, I would have bet CDA's salary on losing the last four, badly. But I would have been wrong. Hopefully the Wberg Magic is still strong.

Well said Brint! It has been difficult to watch a team with this much talent not play up to its potential on a consistent basis. Hopefully that starts to change this weekend.
Griz do NOT have that much talent, just stop.........SMFH

BW, I have to disagree about the defense not playing to potential. The defense has keep us in range of winning just about all our games (#$&% Weber) if we only had an offense that could keep up.

a very nice commentary b/w, I hope the team reads it.......I believe fanfzoo has hit a home run here, stitt offense just has not been very good, and that's all I have to say about that....
+1...short and to the point... :egriz:

All Big Sky is All Big Sky. Only #egrizlogic says honorable mention shouldn't count lmao. Like I said, it's voted on by the coaches.

My list for locks, not in order are: Jones, Henderson, Roberts, Nyguen, Reese, Holmes, KVA, Kose, Gamboa, Kidder, Harris, Yamen Sanders and Whitted. Never thought about Lider. That brings me to 14.

Holmes and KVA are lockes for All-American. Holmes is a First-Team All-American. I think Jamaal Jones will also get some AA honors as well.

I completely disagree with the not that talented argument. There are 13 guys right now who are locks for All Big Sky honors. Two First-Team All-Americans and likely the runner-up for the Buck as I think Cowser will win it. Locked in and done, and that list is voted on by the opposing coaches. I'll take their word over this board's for how talented the Griz are. The issue, as I see it is, only one of those all-conference locks is an offensive linemen and non of those locks are a quarterback.

Oh come on Hav, you can't really believe that.

Huh I guess you do.

Haha. I guess we'll find out how close I am on Nov. 23. That's when the All Big Sky Team is released. Of course, no matter how right I am, some egrizzers will somehow discredit the All-Conference team. Like I said, a lot of people on this board have very good opinions. There are a lot of very informed and very intelligent posters on this board. However, when it comes to evaluating the players at the University of Montana, I'll take the word of Beau Baldwin, Rob Ash, Mike Kramer and Tim Walsh over Egriz or BN any day.

HM is barely more than a participation ribbon...

For example, in 2014, in the 13 team BSC, 9 centers were all-conference if you include HM....not exactly an elite honor...

Like I said, All Big Sky is All Big Sky. You think Griz players should be criticized for their coaching peers for voting them to the All Big Sky Team? I don't. It's an honor, and the coaches select the kids by the system set forth by the league. If any Griz player gets honorable mention, they should be damn proud of it. They didn't set the standard for how many players are selected. They should be nothing but proud of it, and it means they are a damn good football player according to the rest of the coaches in the league. If anyone doesn't agree with it, e-mail Baldwin or Kramer or Walsh or Barnum or Ash and ask them not to vote for the Griz players that you don't think deserve it lol.

I agree with havgrizfan on this one and not just because his town is step one in the best three town drive from Montana to my province of Saskatchewan. Havre/Turner/Climax!!!! Check a map, that just happened!!!

So I guess you believe Brock Coyle was really only a 2nd Team BSC player? The coaches voted on it so it must be true....

CV, no, I didn't say they always get it right, I said their opinion on talent means more to me than Egrizzers does. That's all. If you believe you're a better evaluator of talent than Beau Baldwin is, by all means, e-mail him and tell him who not to choose from the Griz for all conference. I'll give you his e-mail addy if you want it.

Honestly, if the Griz were 7-1, no one but Alpha and Growler would be arguing about my statement about the talent on this football team. People are just butt hurt that the team hasn't met their personal expectations. I don't like it either, but I don't let it ruin my life nor cloud my judgement. The All-Conference list isn't a team award, it's an individual honor. Some of the best players in college football play on some bad teams every year. The Griz are no exception to that.

Well, since I have said all along that the Griz were a 6 or 7 win team....I would guess they are pretty much what I expected...and why did I expect that....because they aren't that good...they have mediocre talent overall...

I would like to see your list of 13....and don't even try to include any OL...
Or safeties, running backs, or quarterbacks.

I spent 9 months in his town and am sorely missing Nalivkas Pizza and Guadalajara Mexican. Who would ever think Havre would have such a kick ass Mexican restaurant?

I am not necessarily dishing your All-Big Sky predictions. I just don't think how coaches vote for All-Conference spots is necessarily an indicator of talent level. Which was the original question. I have been involved in various All Star/All League voting situations. I can tell you it's more about "you vote for my guy and I'll vote for yours". There is an "understanding". Brock Coyle was only one crazy example. Since I've been following The Griz and the Big Sky, I have seen many "head scratcher" voting results......

Honestly the Griz could never be 7-1 with the talent we have and that's really sad considering we play in the BSC.

Pretty funny considering how close we are to 6-2.
