9-Game Schedule

Sorry, I originally posted this on the basketball board. This is where it belongs:

Idaho State Athletic Director Jeff Tingey says in a story on the ISU web site that the Big Sky is looking at going to a 9-game league schedule to make sure it crowns a more worthy champion, and to allow league schools to play the more attractive opponents like Montana and MSU more often. It would be great from an ISU perspective, where we are committed to playing two money games a year and often have to fill out the home schedule with a D-2 team.

Or the option of 11 or 12 so UM and MSU can play a body-bag home money game in years they'd have 5 conference games on the road while the lesser programs can decide not to play a 12th if it doesn't make financial sense. With the 7-win D-1 requirement it really doesn't matter either way if you qualify with the necessary wins but UM and MSU potentially giving up at least 6 home games every season to play a road game in Sacramento would be a bad idea for both programs and the fans.
