Earlier this morning I looked to see the last time the Griz did this well before the Brawl of the Wild game....
It was 2009 when the only game they lost was to Villanova in the NC...if I remember correclty it was to Szecer (however you spelled his name) - Mr. Everything who also gave something like bone marrow earlier that year that was Villanova
Go GRIZ!!!!

It was all Mariani the first half and Szalzer in the second half. I still question why Mariani got limited touches that second half?

I will go to my grave believing the Griz should have, and could have, won that game. I was in the stands. That was the game that gave me the original sinking feeling every time Coach plays keep away instead of mashing the pedal.

Exactly the same. Was there too. And it’s also why I cringe whenever Bobby starts playing it safe.

I was there, too. Nova made major adjustments at the half to contain MM with multiple coverage. In essence, they said he will not beat us. So in conservative mode, we refused to throw into the coverage and did not seem to be able to take advantage of their overcommitment. With little ground success, we did little on offense. They also spotted softness in the Griz D and pounded it with the Szczur wildcat, for which we had no answer. Our OC and DC were badly outcoached.

Szczur. He was in the Cubs organization after college.

Mariani owned the first half.

No, Kem, you don't get it. Bobby Hauck does not like to win games. He is just not a competitive person, and if there is one deep truth about him, it is that he likes to see the Griz lose so that he can watch other teams be happy. So if we get up to a lead, he tries to make sure we don't win. How can you not get it? People have been saying it for years, so it must be true.

Love it, but this was from the other title game loss the year before. :(

This is how Bobby's head coaching seasons have ended (in those that he made the playoffs):
2003 - L - First Round
2004 - L - Championship
2005 - L - First Round
2006 - L - Semi Final
2007 - L - First Round
2008 - L - Championship
2009 - L - Championship
2013 - L - Heart of Dallas Bowl (UNLV)
2019 - L - Quarterfinal
2021 - L - Quarterfinal
2022 - L - Second Round

So....while your post was tongue-in-cheek, you may be onto something.

My son and I were at that Villanova title game as well and I could never understand where our outside linebackers and safeties were while Scezur ripped off long runs at will time after time from the same offensive set. Early prognosticator of the struggles we have had against the Cat run defense more recently?

When I put my tongue in my cheek, I would kindly ask that you don't slap it right out.

In my defense, you could say the same of, say, Andy Reid before 2020. Any time there is a playoff system, every coach but one ends their season on a loss. I do understand people are frustrated when a coach does stuff you don't want, and then loses. I also find it really bothersome, though, that there is this weird narrative that "Bobby Hauck coaches to lose games, and everyone on the internet knows it." Kem did a good job of highlighting the reasons for going to the ground game against Nova. There are usually good coaching reasons, even if some folks disagree.

Either way, this season started out as a gut punch to my optimism and now has me feeling more bullet proof than an MSU coordinator at 1:59 AM.

It worked. I'm at work, and you actually got an audible chuckle out of me.
