His continual whining about the players and the team did, I think, finally reach a "come to Jesus" moment after the Griz Cat game. His head was slammed in the door and he had the most miserable week in his life. I do think that he finally realized that his DII experiences had not translated up to DI.
He realized vividly that his arrogant condescension about Ty Gregorak -- and his annoying asides about it throughout the season -- and his faith in replacing a successful DI DC with a relatively inexperienced DII DC had been badly misplaced and blew up on him in the most public way possible. He made a profound strategic error in staffing choices. No other way to put the lipstick on that pig. He f------ up, it hurt the Griz and it bolstered the Cats. And 26,182 people saw it live and understood that all too clearly by 3:30 p.m. November 19.
Choate's comments about our linemen stances had to have been humiliating since it was not only true, but gave a compelling talking point to every coach recruiting against us: "these guys don't even know how to play DI football." And 26,182 fans saw a local boy do some good kicking, an MSU recruit that Stitt rejected over the advice of his assistant staff.
Kent Haslam has had his conversation with Stitt. And Haslam was none too happy over the "firestorm" over Stitt that erupted after the Griz Cat game. Not my word. The assistant coaching staff has had their unhappy meeting with Stitt and Semore; this is a coaching staff very unhappy with how Stitt manages this team and they said so.
So, what "needs" improvement for 2017? Our Head Coach and his attitude.
Can that be fixed?
Optimistically, why not?
Pessimistically, how? I think he's got the picture, now, but much of that picture was painted by inexperience. How do you get that during an off-season? Well the good news is perhaps found in the assistants. That's a good staff. Stitt listening to them would be a good start.

I,too, would like to see an honest prediction from 75 on the 2017 season.
I mean with all that insider intel, superior connections to athletes and social groups, 27 different professional titles and positions, and abilities to research, quote, and write essays comparable to the likes of "War and Peace", I can't think of any other prediction that would hold more weight than one from 75. Please enlighten us with a prediction for 2017.
My only ask is that you avoid the following:
- 3 celebrities will die in 2017
- Jennifer Lopez and Drake won't last
- the 49ers won't win the Super Bowl
- either JMU or YSU will win the FCS title on Saturday
You know, because those are obvious and we all know that your opinions on the Griz and coaches are anything but. Prediction please.

I'm still not seeing anything in the last 20 or so posts related to the original post unless it is the premise that the coaching staff needs to do some self-examination, and then accept accountability next year as well. I think everybody gets that. Please move on.............. :x

What happened to the Griz season? Why did it go south and end so bad? You seem to have some info and ideas? What went wrong?

Well, the thread wasn't about predictions, it was about need for improvements. Right? In case it is tough for the geniuses who got all their predictions wrong, I estimated last year that this team had a negative trend in terms of key statistics and especially QB performance which declined with successive games under the same coach. This season came out worse than I thought. Do I see evidence of necessary change? In the words in a press conference as opposed to the season performance?Alaska Griz said:I think you're missing the point...posters are asking 75 to give a prediction on next season. that is all. And keep posting those keen insights from your multiple conversations with the movers and shakers inside the program. We all love those....
AZ, you used to be a pretty good poster. What happened? You are being more of a troll than 75? If you disagree with 75, tell us why. What is he saying that you believe is wrong? Personally, I find that posters who call another poster who is posting mostly substance, are showing that they have no arguments and essentially have run out of game.

I think you're missing the point...posters are asking 75 to give a prediction on next season. that is all. At some point one can only yell so loudly and repeat over and over long-winded bashings of something or someone (at this point I can't tell the difference) before people say, ok, what is your solution? people have predicted things on here that were wrong, right, and somewhere in between for years...I have my ideas like the next person, but if you spend all day trying to spread negativity about something, run down people who disagree with you, and broadcast your disdain repeatedly without fail, then of course others will seek some change of pace and perhaps progression...essentially if everyone that 75 argues with is a troll and wrong about everything, then naturally a few will want to ask what the solution from the most outspoken poster is. It's a way of moving on and enjoying Griz football, because some of us can see the ebb and flow of these types of things. If Stitt fails long enough he'll be gone...he has some time yet to implement and develop his recruits and philosophy, as well as revise his philosophy and address his mistakes. There's also an entire staff involved in this whole thing and they all want to be better. I think you know this, but I can't figure out your stance. Ultimately, this board was designed to be...dare I say, fun? On a side note, I personally think AZ is a good poster, and probably a cool guy, who really roots for the team. At the end of the day, and this isn't directed at anyone individually, if you have all the answers, then by all means work your way up the ladder and lead the Griz to glory

I've posted it several times, just like 75 has posted it several times. I am not attacking him in any way. You are always very polite in person, I don't understand why you are such a jerk on here sometimes. That really doesn't strike me as who you are.
PlayerRep said:Nope, wasn't missing any point. Was just asking a question. Also, don't see the reason that someone pointing out problems needs to offer solutions, or make predictions. Those are different things. I don't know how people can offer solutions if they don't know the reasons for the problems and what all the problems were.

Happy to give you my honest opinion. I simply don't think the Griz were very good this year. I think youth lead to a lot of mistakes and inconsistent quarterback play killed us. I'm not sure if we had any great leadership both with players or in the coaching realm.
I think the lack of postseason awards is telling also. The Griz did not have one single player earn a first team all conference award. Heck, did we even have anyone on the second team?
I love the Griz, want them to be great every year, and I have high expectations just like the rest of us but this last year it just wasn't there. I think we will see some improvement this year but I still think we are 1 to 2 years away from consistent dominant play.
* edit as I just checked....ewu had 7 guys on first team all conference and 3 on second team. 10 total. Griz had 2 second teamers. That's a huge difference.
