We are E-Cynic! Where arm chair quarterbacks, former jr high school stand outs, and spoiled Griz fans live. No one's happy here. We haven't played a game, and the season is pretty much over . Stitt's a bust! Our players will never succeed. Might as well just forfeit. We're like Charlie Brown and our season is Lucy pulling the ball away! ARGGHH!

E-Cynic? There is just as many E-Sugar posters on this board. That's the problem. There's no middle ground. The posters on the margins just battle each other relentlessly. TG is the next Buddy Ryan. Stitt is a total bust. It will continue all season. Get used to it. But nothing will change. The Griz will be 8-4 and some posters will be pissed while others will be ecstatic and brag. The Griz will beat a scrub MSU team and the cycle will start all over again.....
 
No way Hammer is a better arm chair quarterback than me. E-Cynic! Damn that feels good, I have a moniker. Actually I was bored and wanted to bump the thread. I actually feel the Griz will be good and am excited about the season. Now I know what Alpha feels like pulling everyones chain. I thought the part about the players turning their heads toward the crowd was a nice touch, total BS.

But it's the issue, Stitt knows it, Germer knows it, TY knows it and has to even call off his dogs because of it. I'm sure NDSU is going to know it, Griz fans know it, everybody knows it. It's a dead horse that is never going to stop being beaten. It's a major concern.

However, to use that concern to rally and already get a pitchfork out for Stitt, and his system, or to use that concern to say the Griz don't have talent, that's not reaching, that's just pure lunacy.

Not surprised the offense struggled with Weyer and Schmaing out. I assume that is partly why Gustafson only played a series.

The other qbs all struggled. I'd say go with Chalich and be done with it. Prater has the arm for this offense and shows flashes, but man a lot of his passes go the other way. He's got to stop overthrowing guys across the middle.

I thought the defense looked great. Credit Gregorak, this D plays like some bad ass mothafers. They know they're good and they're out to prove it to everyone. It's awesome.

Caleb Kidder...watch out. He's the best defensive player in the league. The DLine will be fine.

Kose hit was unnecessary and not acceptable. With that said, this offense puts receivers in a lot situations where they could get blown up. They need to get used to it and go up and take the ball. Not easy to catch a ball over the middle with Kose and KVA coming at you, but they have to make those plays.
I think Stitt was trying send that message to his receivers with the repetitive play calling. As Stitt said repeatedly, "gotta make a play, guys!".

everyone needs to take a deep breath. Lets wait until we have a few games under our belts before we start jumping to stupid conclusions.

The team is in good hands. They will get coached up. Chill the F out!!

We don't have a few games. We start the season out with the national championship.

Interesting observation here that I have not seen yet. Do you think that this will result in a few WR injuries throughout the year? If they are constantly getting blown up, I could see that happening or some tentativeness from some of them. Also, I wonder if this results in more penalties against defenses you play, for hits on "defensless receivers". Since on big hits, refs seem more apt to call those penalties whether they were a good hit or not.

People are way too negative about the offense and way too positive about the D. Defense always looks strong early on. The offense will come around. Give it another 7-10 days.
 
The NDSU game is the FIRST game of the season with a whole new offensive system. Although it is a big game for all involved it will not define the season. I expect to see some good things and some bad things. I hope for a competitive game and to see more good things than bad. I hope to see guys make big plays and learn, learn, learn. And most of all.....no season ending injuries.

Win or lose we have a whole season to look forward to and it will be the second matchup with the Bison this season that I will look forward to.

I'd say yes to all of the above.

If your names not Jones or Henderson you better be ready for some contact. That's why we've seen so many dropped balls. But its hard to blame receivers for not going after some of the balls thrown their way Saturday. Chalich, Prater, Simis repeatedly overthrew them across the middle.

Agreed, I recall only Lyons actually stretching out and snagging a high throw over the middle and he got drilled for it (did hang on though). A few times of that and any WR is going to get a little nervous. There were a few times you'd see passes that the WR's might've been able to catch but they just stuck 1 hand out and would bat the ball away instead of fully stretching out and going to get the ball... could be b/c they didn't want to get destroyed going after the ball.
 
Gus may have another advantage with his height. The ball is starting at a higher point, therefore it would tend to be on a more descending path as it arrives at the receiver. Probably more noticeable on the short passes (ie up the middle) than the long passes.
 
Offense being behind the defense is very normal the first couple weeks, especially when Defense is established and O is almost completely new. Same goes with DL being ahead of OL. There are lots of fans of lots of teams that are over-hyping their defense and are under-estimating their offense right now. I have the same concerns on the OL, but it is way to early to start hitting the panick button. Really, we won't know what we have for Offense till NDSU and maybe not even then...

I think Gus stepping up is huge for us. If the OL can manage to get him a little bit of time, he should be able to get the ball to our weapons. Running game is what I'm really interested in seeing. Losing Weyer is really tough...
 
Lets face it. With a leaky O-line the QB will need to throw the ball quicker than he wants. QB coaches will need to stress tossing the ball low because of that and especially the short routes. We all go high when we are about to be hit and it's a common fact. QB coaching is tough. Mental, mental, mental but physical is also very important. Very few ball get picked when they are thrown low. It is the high throws that are easy pickens for the D backs. Some coaching experts have the QB aim for the belly instead of the face to help some QBs adjust to the hurry up. It works for some QBs and not for others.
Our second QB should be making a showing by now but none have stepped up yet. One man will get the job but he better be ready for game time.
 
One thing to keep in mind, as to why the Defense is dominating the Offense at times, is the fact that the Defense has seen the offense so much to where the Defense knows what the offense is going to run. A Defensive player even said so on the news.

The Offense will look better once we play somebody else. Especially once we get through the brutal non-conference schedule and we hit conference play.
