60 minutes on Towson/LSU

Just caught a neat segment on 60 minutes about the LSU vs. Towson game early in the season. The story was about the money involved in football marketing and moved toward the $500k guarantee for Towson to be offered as lambs to the slaughter against LSU. Problem being that someone forgot to tell Towson and they were leading LSU at halftime. They had a small clip of the head coach from Towson telling his players at halftime if he caught any of them with a smile on their face he would kill them. He went on to tell them that it was a 15 round match. I got pumped up listening the guy.....

Yep. It also talked about how hiring a football coach will be the most important hire an AD makes. Football pays for everything and the wrong one can be catastrophic to the entire university. The Michigan AD said that between 60-70% of charitable giving to their university happens during the football season. Out of 125 FBS programs, 22 operate at a break-even or profit. Less than 20%.
