A lot of good thoughts on the Griz Hoops. I think with the tough pre conference schedule and playing a lot of guys, the Griz will be ready to defend the BSC.

It's another recruiting coups for Montana men's basketball: Brian Qvale, a 6-foot-11 center out Williston, N.D., confirmed Tuesday that he has committed to play for the Griz in 2007-08.
Qvale committed following his third visit to the campus this past weekend. He chose Montana over a host of schools, including Portland State of the Big Sky Conference, Idaho, Boise State, Wyoming, North Dakota State, Washington State, Utah State and Colorado State.
He also happens to be long-time friends with another highly-recruited player, Glendive's Derek Selvig. Selvig committed to UM last week, and Qvale said that helped him make his decision.
“A little bit,” he said. “Even if he hadn't committed, I think Montana still would've been the top choice. But since he's there, that helps even more.”
The 230-pound Qvale averaged 13.6 points and 9.5 rebounds for Williston, which went 16-9 and finished third at North Dakota's Class A state tournament in March.
He's a shot-blocker who has played summer ball with Selvig since his freshman year, and has known him since the two were in grade school. There were plenty of other factors that made UM attractive, including two straight trips to the NCAA tournament.
“The facilities, the coaches, the players are great,” he said. “I liked the town. It's different from North Dakota, that's for sure.
“I knew I liked it, but once my parents (Sanford and Carol) went down there, they liked it - and that made everything easier.”

Wow Qvale and Selvig, quite a class so far. What more does Tinkle have in store for Griz Nation? We should have 2 more scholarships left being the griz have 4 SR's on the roster right now. Any idea as to who the other prospects might be to go with Qvale and Selvig? Could this tie, Martin, Sims, and Rundles lead to some more midwest kids from Milwaukee, Minneapolis, Omaha, etc (just to name a few)? How about CA with a fair number of of CA recruits on the roster? Could Duchesne influence some Seattle kids? I will not be surprised if we somehow establish some SE, NE, Atlantic Coast ties sometime soon. Then we would be covering every region well. If all these guys stay and are happy is it possible we change Osweiller's mind by time he is a SR? I am sure Tinkle will not give up on him until he is officially at Gonzaga's campus. How important is it that all these newcomers see significant playing time and roles? I think it is very important now that the Griz have our feet in the door for all these regions. The fact is if these kids stay happy they attract others from their regions. Either way, this is quite amazing how far the program has come. I am so excited for basketball season again this year. Hope to see the ZOO back to being THE ZOO starting this year. Keep up the good work men's basketball. All us in Griz Nation are proud of what is happening here. GO GRIZ!!

I don't think it matters as long as the NCAA allows no more than fifteen scholarships total per year per team. Every Division One team has that restriction I believe. I know theres' been some ridiculous rules in the past that have been superceded recently about such considerations but still there are four seniors out of fifteen players listed on the Montana roster making me believe as well that there are two more scholarships to hand out by the November signing; unless there is a late signing say in April.

Maybe that's why I'am confused. I was always under the impression that a Division One level Mens' basketball program could have fifteen players under scholarship.
If 'GrizWhiz' is correct then 13 for the mens' teams & 15 for the womens' team then, if I understand correctly.
