UofM's #56 Brock Coyle

Brock will start for the second straight season. He is a team co-captain on defense along with fellow senior linebacker Jordan Tripp. He's played in 39 games and has 168 career tackles. He will soon move on to UM's career tackles list.

2012: He started in all 11 games and led Montana with 107 tackles. He was ranked 28th (tie) in the nation, averaging 9.73 tackles a game. He was an honorable mention All-Big Sky Conference selection.

2011: He played in all 14 games and was the team's 16th leading tackler, despite not starting.

2010: His career was put on hold this season as he recovered from off-season surgery and he redshirted. He would have been the team's 10th leading returning tackler.

2009: He saw considerable action as a true freshman playing in 14 games (he did not play in the UC Davis game due to injury). He was 17th on the team with 30 tackles. He was tied with two other players for the fourth most interceptions on the team with two.

HIGH SCHOOL: He was a three-year football letterman at Bozeman High School...an all-state and all-conference selection as a senior...team captain in 2008...all-conference pick as a junior...his high school coach was Troy Purcell.

CAREER HIGHS: He had 19 tackles against Montana State in 2012, and he had 10 or more tackles in six games that season. He had 15 tackles against Northern Arizona last season and 14 versus Southern Utah.

PERSONAL: His parents are Tina and Christopher Coyle of Bozeman. His major is business (marketing). Birth date: Oct. 12, 1990.

Brock Coyle is going to be a real force this year. I would be surprised if I don't see him land an NFL job.

He's always been a bit overshadowed and under-appreciated, thus not receiving the accolades he deserves, but he'll go down as one of our best overall LBs with a strong senior season. He is very fun to watch. I agree, he'll have a shot at the Pros. Possibly drafted.

I would not be surprised to see Coyle and Tripp each get good shots at the NFL. Are they the best LB duo in GRIZ history? As for crushing App State, I doubt either team will get crushed. I am wanting an instant all time classic.

I'm not sure if they are the all time best duo but if not they are at least in the discussion. If both have solid senior campaigns and stay healthy I could see both getting drafted. Tripp for sure he has the prototype size and speed of an NFL backer.
