PLEASE. No matter how poor this MSVST might look, don't over look them. I would like to see a solid win where backups could play. However I think it foolish to bank on that.

I agree with this. Also, what a great opportunity for our players, and theirs, to see these two programs meet up. An HSBU comes to Missoula how often? I think Alcorn State in the playoffs years ago, but I may be missing one. I hope the fans show the visitors a great time and great atmosphere.
I hope they travel well, enjoy the hell outta Missoula and WaREAD Stadium (I'm never getting off that kick), and return home to say, "Well, we lost that game, but we sure have a ton of respect for that school, program and those fans."

Go Griz!
The only other SWAC team the Griz have played was Jackson State, in the play-offs in 1989.

Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately) we pretty much can bank on it. This should be the worst FCS team we've ever hosted

It looks like their last win against a team that finished with a winning record was back in 2006

A number of their wins in the last decade are against teams that finished with 0-1 wins, many of them DIIs

The SWAC is well... its the SWAC. Just bad, bad football in the last twenty years.

Yet the SWAC has already had 7 games televised on networks with national coverage. Admittedly, 3 of those were body-bag games with SEC opponents, but still. Unlike the Pac-12 Network, the SEC Network seems to sell the feed to just about anybody. (We never have trouble finding them on DirecTV.) The SWAC will have 7 more showings by the end of the season. All will be on a national network (ESPN family, NBC or SEC-N).

The MEAC, which plays equally bad football, gets 8 regular-season matchups televised, plus the post-season MEAC-SWAC “Celebration Bowl.” Every one of the MEAC games appears on one of the ESPN channels (usually ESPN-U). [Two games double-count, since they are against SWAC opponents.]

Just now, I looked over the Big Sky list of games planned for television. It shows a number of body-bag games slated for the Pac-12 Network, but -- as noted above -- those do not get national coverage. Although a few games are listed for NBC or Fox regional feeds, not one BSC game is headed for a national (ESPN-family) hookup. So who’s laughing all the way to the bank?

The SEC teams that collect all that money

I'm not sure what Alcorn State gained from getting their asses beat by Arkansas other than a game check

My bad on the numbers ... I split the list twice, trying to jump back and forth between eGriz and the SWAC screen. The SWAC has already had 5 games broadcast on ESPNU (4) or ESPN. Besides those, they've had two body-bag SEC games ... including the Alcorn State monstrosity, which could actually have been a lot worse.

Including the "Celebration Bowl," they will have 6 more games televised on ESPNU (4), NBS-Sports or ABC. There will also be another body-bag SEC game (Alabama A&M at Auburn). So by the end of the season, the SWAC will have had 11 games televised with a national hookup -- and that money goes straight to the school (or conference, have no idea what the arrangement is). They will also have a total of 3 big (hopefully) paychecks from those SEC teams.

All 9 games (with the Celebration Bowl) for the MEAC are on ESPN-family or ABC. So that money also goes to the school/conference.

I would imagine ESPN gets the games fairly cheap, but it's still a Hell of a lot more than the Big Sky sees (which is zero from any national provider).
