NCAA settlement money coming our way:

Montana is receiving $512,833 based on the 155.82 scholarships it granted in 2013-14 (the Grizzlies were without four football scholarships that year due to self-imposed sanctions, and were without the 12 scholarships they now offer for women’s softball).

Beginning in the 2017-18 academic year, UM will put $30,000 per year toward the supplementing of summer school for athletes. It will also use $10,000 for mental health programs (such as counseling), $5,000 for nutrition and another $5,000 for academic-center monitoring in an effort to keep that facility open for longer hours each day.

Haslam also said a permanent fueling station will be housed inside UM’s $14 million Champions Center, the construction of which will be completed this fall.

Still, the educational and mental health components were the top priorities for Haslam and his team.

“Summer school for us was most important because it’s a great way for student-athletes to get ahead on graduation,” Haslam said. “We looked at where we can have the biggest impact on their educational experience, and funding summer school, to us, seemed like the best way to do that.”

MSU's settlement payment is a little higher, $547,522. The payments are based on the amount of scholarships the school was giving out over the course of 2013-2014. So yet another ding against Montana for our self-imposed loss of scholarships, where football at the very least that year was dealing with 4 less scholarships.

Edit: the reference to fueling station was what MSU is focusing on:

That includes the creation of a permanent in-house “fueling station,” which officially opened Tuesday and is located inside Brick Breeden Fieldhouse adjacent to the athletic training room. This allows for healthy eating options for athletes on the go.

be interesting to see how that healthy eating "fueling station" works for them...

Oh my how we do coddle to those athletes! "Fueling station" for athletes on the go? Seriously? Don't get me wrong, I will always be a strong GRIZ supporter but sometimes it seems that the anti-athlete sentiment among the non-athletes on campus is well-founded. This hand-out money to the elite few makes many students feel like chopped liver. It just seems like too many athletes receive too much baby-sitting and hand-holding when just far too many students are struggling to just pay rent, working at the University Center stores part-time and building up serious tuition debt. I was one of 'em once. Go GRIZ. Fuel yourselves...

Respectfully disagree. Athletes have a damn full time job playing, practicing, training and watching film for their respective sports. They work their butts off. Athletics is a full time job and so is keeping up with their nutritional needs. The fueling stations is very appropriate.

If you want to complete you need to keep up with everyone else. I like the thought of us working towards FBS type facilities in FCS, it will give us a major recruiting edge over our competition so i'm all for the fueling station. If the students had so much anti-athlete sentiment, why do they show up on Saturdays and support them? I was also one of those students who worked through school and was very poor, however i don't blame the athletics department, but hey everyone is entitled to their own opinion despite this being Egriz and all.

I think the fueling station is a great idea. It's not necessarily about providing them with free food. It has more to do with the fact that many student-athletes go straight from class to practice or vice versa. They don't have time to run home and grab a snack or go to the cafeteria and eat. On the weekdays, most of their lives consist of gym, class, practice, study hall, sleep. Yes, regular students can have it tough as well, but most of them have more time to sit down and eat a meal.

So I say we self impose a withdrawal of about 100k from Royces first check for teaching.

Agreed
But seriously lets all sit back and watch the Chemistry department completely collapse now.
