Because they had more to gain by converting a 1st down. Had the punt went into the endzone, GRIZ would have only netted about 15 yards of field position.

Or you realize this is a defensive game and field position is key. Shot in the dark to make it and chance to pin deep. Either call is okay, but certainly not a no brainier. Now mo is changed, and....
