I always heard 3 but must admit I have no idea

Usually about 3 is correct, but if teams have big diffence in covering/not covering spread at home vs away etc it can be adjusted I believe. I am guessing between the actual advantage of at home covering most years it would be worth more than 3. Doubt worth 7 this year so must be more money will be going on Griz than Cats so need to bump the spread a little.
