Could be mistaken, but I think the guy seated far right in the photo is Huey Lewis.

Yup, it's Huey.

Scrafford is in the back row of the group photo too.

I don't really know the accuracy of the SI writer's acreage estimate?
The next day the group visited Clark’s ranch, where his wife, Kelly, is working with rescue horses, before heading to DeBartolo’s 5,000-acre spread for dinner. When they arrived, DeBartolo led the group down a gravel path to a field. And there, in the midst of a grassy patch in

I have always liked Huey. Part of the community. Does charitable events. At those, he pretty much talks to all comers. Has a good feel to him. People seem to enjoy talking to him.

Did you run this by John Tester and his supporters?

Exactly. He’s a Montanan but Greg Gianforte and Matt Rosendale are not.

Jon Tester can't even win his county. He calls himself a farmer, but doesn't even farm wheat or barley. What does he farm?

PR, Tester farms wheat and peas, he also raises a small beef herd. In 2012 he carried Chouteau Co 1,374 to 1,321. Lol. I think it’s important to state facts and not throw statements like he can’t even win his own county around. If enough people keep saying that it becomes a “fact”. I don’t think enough of the Republicans In counties where Fagg won are going to vote for Rosendale, the Montainah “drone hunter” Smh. Interesting to see how much Trump will weigh in against Tester as vengeance for spoiling the eminently unqualified Ronny Jackson’s bid to become the Director of the largest and arguably the most important agency in the federal government. Really just incomprehensible. The VA is a mess and needs a real life professional corporate or government admisnistrator. Jackson is now being investigated by the Pentagon IG. I think it’s going to be a real nasty race with millions of out of state money on both sides.

I got a good laugh when I saw the dems ad attacking Rosendale on his eastern shore of Maryland accent when he tries to pronounce his adopted state of “Montainah”. (I’m a proud supporter of the Montainah Grizzlies). As a life long Montainahan it is crazy to me that guys like Rosendale and Downing even have the audacity to run. Downing and his son are currently being prosecuted for buying resident hunting licenses when they never ever met the requirements to establish Montainah residency, and the guy ran for the senate without batting an eye. He blamed the prosecution or rather the persecution of him on the FWP deep state. Lol. I have defended quite a few residency cases and they are are really difficult to defend because they can get ahold of tax records and voting records and vehicle registrations and most off these guys also hunt on resident tags in their home state which disqualifies them from establishing Montainah residency. The interstate wildlife compact allows FWP to cross reference resident licenses in like 48 other states. I heard he carried the other 3 Montainah residents who actually live in the Yellowstone Club year round though. Maybe he can run for governor after he gets his non resident hunting privileges restored in about 6 to 10 years. I know to much politics. Lol. We are Montainah :thumb:

Just because you are born in Montana doesn't mean you automatically have more smarts or good sense on how to govern than those who were not, or that outsiders shouldn't be let in. Haven't we seen this thinking before? Oh yeah, from the hillbilly inbreeders in W.Va.

Jon is in his 11th year in the Senate. He campaigned on fixing the VA in 2005-2006 and in every race thereafter, and has presided, from the Democrats' standpoint on the Committee, over the biggest scandals in VA history. He doesn't know what he is doing. It was his attempted legislative "fix" that recently had to be fixed. https://www.military.com/daily-news/2018/06/06/trump-signs-55-billion-bill-replace-va-choice-program.html

He says he's fighting for the VA and veterans, but I'm telling you he really sucks at it.

Thanks for the corrections. I had read recently that he raised peas and lentils, but I now see that he raises a variety of organic crops. And you are right on the bad info being stated over and over again, i.e. can't win his county, that it becomes "fact". That where I got my incorrect info. However, in 2006, Tester lost his county 1288 to 1345, I believe.

I see that the Testers also farm the government:

"Sen. Jon Tester (D-Mont.) personally received $2,982 in direct payments and $6,113 in conservation reserve program payments in 2012. Testers’ wife, Sharla, is listed as a 50 percent owner of T-Bone Farms – Tester is listed as owning the other 50 percent. T-Bone farms received $12,186 in direct payments in 2012. The Tester’s total subsidies for 2012 were $21,281. Their total from 1995-2012 is $505,536."

Why are farmers buried only 18 inches deep? Answer: So they can still get a hand out. I grew up on a ranch/farm. Always liked that one.

If a farmer carries federal crop insurance, they receive premium subsidies, so it really isn't surprising that his operation has received that amount of subsidies over the 17 year period. Organic farming is higher risk, so the insurance premiums are much higher than conventional farming. Compared to other farmers in Chouteau County, what the Tester's have received is small potatoes, so there's really no point trying to make him look bad by bringing it up.

Why are attorneys buried 13 feet deep? Because, deep down, they're really great people. :thumb:

I tried a case in Fort Benton once and was looking for farmers and land owner types for my jury. I kept asking potential jurors what they did for a living and they kept saying “CRP” kind of sheepishly. It took my a while to figure out what they meant. Lol

Who tried to make him look bad? I just posted the facts from an article/website.

Are you telling us that this is mostly from crop insurance? Isn't Tester's farm pretty small? Would stand to reason that bigger farms can get more federal funds.

I think Tester is going down. He lives in DC now. Rosendale and Gianforte live in MT. Gianforte comes back to MT every weekend.
Then, after acknowledging you provided “incorrect info” you said Tester “farms the government” and told a joke about handouts.

What incorrect info? That he once didn't win his county and once did win his county. Note that I didn't say he never won his county; I said he can't win it. Is that a serious offense?

Yes, most everyone I know, in farming and otherwise in rural MT, refers to farming the government. Most of my family loves that joke. And, as I said, I grew up on a ranch/farm, but a much bigger one than Tester. Ours has been around for about 130 years.

What's your background in farming/ranching?

You admitted in the above post you used “incorrect info.” Your words; not mine. I’ve noticed that whenever you ask a question, you know the answer and are just baiting the other poster into some dumb argument, for god knows why? I’m not going to argue with you, esp re semantics. I got better shit to do.
Bottomline, you didn’t even address the point of my post: you did in fact try to make Tester look bad, which I could give a shit about, but then you tried to deny it, and that’s just dumb on multiple levels, particularly when political bullshit is not supposed to even be on this forum. So I called you on it, and, predictably, you deflected.
Now let’s here some explanation about how you actually were not trying to make Tester look bad...
