It's a darn good thing Gonzaga has a good basketball team to cheer for. There's not much else to cheer about for this small church college. I didn't know they let non-doctoral institutions into the NCAA Division 1. Heck, maybe Carroll can go big time! I wouldn't send my kid there on a basketball scholarship unless he were guaranteed an NBA career and wouldn't have to worry about where his degree was from.

George Allen I'm so disappointed! You just got done lecturing me that this type of thing does not belong on a basketball board.

agree. We should get back to basketball... Discussing Gonzaga's limited educational scope (e.g., it is not a doctoral institution) is no more irrelevant than blathering on about Gonzaga basketball on a University of Montana message board.

You don't get it. You wanna talk Grizzly basketball, then let's talk basketball. You wanna talk Gonzaga, then I'm going to say anything I want about Gonzaga, including the truth. Since Gonzaga basketball is irrelevant to this website, there's no harm in participating in the irrelevancy by commenting on the educatational limitations of Gonzaga.

Washington is egregiously overrated. In the past, with far more talent, they haven’t ever done much in the post season; maybe a couple sweet sixteen’s. I believe just one? This is with fairly high seeds, including a one seed. Not at least feeling “elite,” I don’t know how successful these campaigns were. Maybe extremely, if compared to Zag standards, where high seeds that, at most, result in very few elite eight appearances. Truly successful, for teams with high seeds, is a final four appearance. I’ve seen Mr. G. Mason in a final four, but not Zaga or UW. Perhaps the state of Washington is simply oblivious to “tangible success.”

http://www.gonzaga.edu/About/Mission/Jesuit+Community/default-print.asp

The Jesuit Community works intentionally with the University and the Catholic Church to bring the reign of Christ in justice, love, and peace to our world. It promotes the University's humanistic, Catholic, and Jesuit character by fostering the intellectual and spiritual traditions of the Society of Jesus. The Jesuit Community views the mission of Gonzaga University from two standpoints, as a work of the Society of Jesus, and as a collaborative effort in which Jesuits engage the interest and help of the entire university community.

As a work of the Society of Jesus, Gonzaga University strives to be in conformity with the mission of the Society. The Jesuits do not carry on this work in isolation but in relation to the other Jesuit universities and in union with the several other works of the Society and the Church. In a spirit of partnership, the Jesuits share leadership in a variety of administrative, faculty, and staff positions. In addition to their regular University assignments, some serve as Members of the Corporation of Gonzaga University or on the Board of Trustees.

As priests and religious, the Jesuits administer the sacraments of the Catholic Church, offer pastoral presence and service, and undertake the office of residence hall chaplains. Jesuits seek to establish the reign of Christ on earth by bringing about a personal transformation of their students so that they may, in turn, transform the world. This transformation is shaped for each Jesuit by the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius, the Constitutions of the Society of Jesus, the sacred scriptures, and the teachings of the Church. Jesuits in turn facilitate this transformation in the lives of all to whom they minister.

Great!! You believe GU BB is irrelevant. You also believe there is no harm in contributing to the irrelevancy of the BB board. So:

GU BB is irrelevant---------->But no harm in irrelevancy
If no harm in irrelevancy----->No harm in talking GU BB

Let's all agree to accept this principle that George Allen has laid out for us: THERE IS NO HARM IN TALKING GU BASKETBALL ON THIS BOARD.

I get it now! One problem: I fail to see why you were wanting to get back to BB if there is no harm in irrelevancy.

I think George is simply pointing out that Gonzaga isn't in the BSC, is not on the Griz schedule, except for the women whom already lost to the Lady Griz. If the Zag board was worth a tinkers damn they woul dhave a pile of Griz football posts over there now. It was simple common courtesy that was asked of them and they respond by thinking they bless us with their presence. I thought the way GA handled it was funny. Would you prefer the name calling other posters revert to?

Yeah he was pointing that out, but he also said that there is no harm in talking about the zags. So, I don't see why there is so much backlash about doing so. As far as the other board is concerned, I have no clue what you speak of. I think GA is pretty funny too, and I appreciate the lack of name calling, etc. But, I must have missed something else.

also said that there is no harm in talking about the zags.

Wouldn't it help a little 'CDAGRIZ' to get a couple games scheduled between Gonzaga & the Griz? Like in a home-&-away scenerio? Sometime? I think its been like, what, twenty years or so since?

Just let the Zag threads continue. They arent hurting anything unless you let them bother you. If skimming through Gonzaga threads on a Grizzly message board is your worst problem in life, then I would say your doing alright for yourself.

REad

That was before EVERY fucking thread was about Gonzaga. What is your deal anyways? Why do you insist on pushing GU basketball on this forum? Do you not like the Griz? Is your name Steve Dill?

Gimmie some facts Swilly. How many zag threads have I started compared to how many griz threads I've started. I think you'll find it's pretty even. To push GU BB, I would have to START threads, not merely respond to those already started. I respond, I don't initiate. Don't accuse me of things I didn't do.

Take it to smack or random where it belongs please. Let's stick to Griz Basketball here.

I'm also confused. I thought everyone would be giving the Zags praise on here. Boy was I wrong.

I think a lot of people respect what Gonzaga has done. I think Few is one of the best coaches in the country. That is a far cry from worshipping them, as you guys appear to be doing. What did you expect, the board name to change to Ezag?

Maybe it's just subterfuge for the below link:

I've always been wondering about them guys over there.

Do you care to elaborate on how talking about my favorite college BB team=worshiping them?

Why don't you change your name to CDAZag then?

Because I love Griz Football. In fact, since I graduated from UM, the griz are my favorite in every sport besides BB, where they come in a close second. Why don't you change your name to HassleZagFans1?

Because I don't need to. You are about as tough as AM's shooting percentage has been the last 5 games. What is he shooting about 5%?
