Going through life without getting arrested is a pretty easy thing to do... or at least you'd think it would be
hmmmm, you must not have been in college in the 60's. I can still smell the tear gas, feel the racist hate, and remember more than one jail. Good times.
Odd, I was in college in the 60's ... down the Bay from the Berkeley riots, and watching our own versions. No jail time, not even a warning from an angry cop. Did not take a lot of brains to stay far enough away to not get caught up in the police sweep when they got tired of dodging bricks and Molotov cocktails. I do remember tear gas, and lots of hate going both ways. I also recall sticking some poor smuck under the shower -- clothes and all -- to try to get it off. Helped fix a few scalp lacerations -- worst was a girl who got hit in the back of the head by a half-brick thrown by another protester. I suppose there might have been a "harboring a fugitive" possibility in there somewhere, but no arrests, no jail time, etc.
So yes, it is not that difficult for most ordinary people to go through life without getting arrested.
Should have been on a bus..not fun. Intense! The Bay Area movement was about the war, my first years in college were about Civil Rights, big difference...Good times! My side won. The anti war side..well, they got their deferments but war is bigger business in America now, by far. Civil rights are now taken for granted, even by those who arrested, beat, and killed a few....Don't forget to vote...
If only to neutralize yours.

According to Fritz, add Hines (Logan), Owen and Schmaing to the list of suspensions.

*EDIT, misread his tweet. I'd assume he means these three to step up in place of Oiland, Poole and Kanongata'a.

And how did that turn out for you? That movement forever branded Democrats as hippies. Thanks for nothing, hippie.
You don't have to go back to the 60's; how about the Wall St. occupiers?
Who?" They accomplished nothing because the did nothing but share anger with each other. Sort of like the Tea Bag crowd but less dangerous. But, to return this to the Weber game...how will suspension affect this team, and how bad, really, is Weber?

As long as you do it, then the future of the country is assured.

Copy of my post on another thread.

The recent group of players getting in trouble has to be ashamed of themselves!!! How stupid are you guys? The GRIZ football team is under a huge microscope, how could all you collectively decide to do this juvenile stupid behavior.

It sucks even more when one of the players mother's has been a 1st class poster here.

Sorry, but they all should lose their scholarships after this season. Yes, that is extreme, but considering the extreme microscope the university is under, I feel it is fair and understandable. Just being part of that party was beyond STUPID, let a lone having drugs on you.

Note to all students, have your fun, it is college!!! Use your damn common sense your parents instilled you with, do it without drugs, if drugs are there, ask the druggies to leave, if they don't, "Get the f*** out, yourself!!!!"

Yep, most of the Bay Area agitation was anti-war ... but it obviously had a racial overtone, since so many soldiers were black. I leaned toward the "the war is dumb" side, but had two very good friends -- one white, one black -- over there: An early taste of "support the troops," no matter your opinion on the war. Later, however, I met some of the "boat people" -- almost all ordinary Vietnamese who fled the post-war pogroms after the U.S. welched on its promise to protect them. That brought home, more than the vast, geopolitical BS, what our guys (and some gals) were really fighting for.

Back to the (marginally-football-related) topic of this thread: Young people (mostly males, but females too) do dumb things when they're college age -- and these three (and Poole), apparently, added to that "legacy." What annoys us "old farts" is the fact that, after all the hoopla -- coach/AD fired, JJ on trial, etc. -- these four seemed totally oblivious to the notion that any of that might apply to them. Now that it truly dumb, and beyond arrogant. (I have other thoughts, but enough ranting.) Fortunately, our society does believe in "second chances," so these idiots have not necessarily ruined their lives. (Although, depending upon how the charges play out, Poole has probably put a pretty severe crimp in his.)

Depending on what happened no one should lose a scholarship. They deserve punishment yes but no loss of scholly. Delaney is not here to get a job at the next level, just doing the job that should have been done prior.

Well said! I wish the team would read this and heed it!

Not surprised to hear Oiland was involved. He and Poole are joined at the hip. And while I guess I should have learned a long time ago to never be surprised when Griz football players step out of line, seeing JP in that suspension list took me back. Just judging from what I read about him and saw in interviews, I didn't think Disco Bloodbath was his scene. But whatever, Mick dropped the hammer. Three very key players suspended for a non-law enforcement violation of team rules draws a pretty clear line in the sand. Will it stop things from EVER happening? Hell no. But we ALL know that for Oiland, JP and Holt, if this were last year, it would have been a very gray area, possibly a one-quarter suspension, which was part of the big problem in the first place.

One of the comments in the Missoulian.

"I wonder what will happen to the other 30 or so players who were at the party and publically violated the Code of Conduct? It will be interesting to see the names and the level of punishment. Coach D will do the right thing, I believe.

As I've said before, we are still only seeing the tip of the iceberg"

Was the "30" a typo?

That was in the comments. About as valid as a post on eGriz for accuracy.

Poole should be invited back with a scholarship?

What ever happened to drug testing? Isn't there randomized testing throughout the athletic program? Why wait until someone steps on their dick again and get it taken care of in house before it becomes another bad headline?

You misspelled "publicly" when you made that comment in the Missoulian, "Outsiderbobcatfan".

It that was the case; that would have been one party that would have been the last place I'd be.
