3 More Suspensions for Weber game.

Kudos to Delaney for holding them accountable. It would have been real easy to look the other way given they still have a shot at a winning season. Honestly, I don't give a rip if we win another game if that is what it takes to get the message drilled into these players heads, if you F up, you pay the piper, plain and simple.
This!!!!

+1 as well, sums it up.

I hope that someone doesn't come up with the very tired excuse ... "these are just kids and kids make mistakes" ... Very tired of this enabling... Ya college kids but also young adults who KNOW what the consequences of their behavior is and still make an adult decision to F up!!! There needs to be some "INTERNAL" policing (not coaches) by players and some well timed "blanket parties" for offenders. Some of these idiots need to have their collective asses kicked by their peers... maybe then they would get a clue.. :x
Exactly. Just because they're kids doesn't mean they should not be held accountable.
these "kids" are all legal adults, at 18 + years old screw ups have more serious results.

Very true. There are other "kids" their age are serving this country everyday in harms way.

Edd - I think there's a gap though between using that statement as a justification though our having it just be part of the argument. Does "kids being dumb kids" happen in college a lot? Oh yeah. However it doesn't make up for the errors or cause any forgiveness in the punishment.

Mick sticking to discipline and the punishments he's handed down help put other players parents at ease as well. If I had a kid on the team I'd be a little worried about association - seeing the way they're cracking down on guys that make mistakes would help me to sleep better at night, if I was in that position.

Just seems to me that when these young adults not kids screw up there is always someone to minimize their lack of judgement and make excuses for them. Like a "oh well" attitude. All this crap by football players (notice no bball, rodeo, track athletes) needs to be addressed with a ZERO tolerance policy from here on out.... With what may happen with the NCAA investigation... loss of scollies and no playoff for who knows how long these young adults need to get their heads out of their collective asses and start acting like a true GRIZ not like a two year old... sorry but I am really tired of all this crap and how lightly some FOOTBALL players take their responsibilities and what being a MONTANA GRIZZLY is about. Shames the name of the State, the University, and Missoula... damn embarrassing.... said my piece and got it off my chest... now I am done... for the sake of the "good" guys on the team I hope the others are gone forever.. let them go play for Idaho State...

very well stated, except that ISU probably wouldn't take them !

MISSOULA, MONTANA (10/29/12) – The University of Montana’s head football coach Mick Delaney announced today that redshirt freshman linebacker Nick Holt, junior linebacker John Kanongata’a, and junior offensive lineman Kjelby Oiland have been suspended for one game. The suspension comes for violation of team rules and the three will not travel to Ogden, Utah for this Saturday’s Big Sky Conference game at Weber State.

“It is an unfortunate situation, but expectations are clear,” Delaney said. “I will not go in to particulars about why the three were suspended, but I can say it does not involve law enforcement. I feel it is my responsibility to hold players accountable.”

Glad he's holding them accountable. These men need to learn even if errors in judgement don't result in arrests - you still shouldn't do it.

These kids are the same age:

Sorry, Brint, but I get tired of hearing about "errors in judgment". An "error in judgment" is when you run out of gas because you thought a quarter tank was enough to get you there. Poole knew what he was doing was a crime and he did it anyway. There's no judgment involved in deciding whether to commit a felony or not.

Seems odd that the UM beat reporter, Fritz Neighbor, hasn't reported anything on this. Am I missing something?

My mistake - I was not referring to Poole's issue as an error in judgement, but the other three - where, as I put in bold, are not dealing with an issue involved with law enforcement.

Saw that, but story was put out by Associated Press. No word on the blog or twitter from Fritz.

 :thumb:  Not trying to defend Rolled Royce, but the clean up had to start somewhere & he had the courage to do it. Good for Delaney, and good for the staff. The days of excuses, second chances, and "we were all young and stupid," don't fly, anymore. If it takes a .500 or losing season to drive the point home, so be it.

The kids left will step up. Go Grizzz!!!

Wow, Don't blame Mick for this! Really these guys (all from WA) are adult enough to know
should from shouldn't. A thought: I have a race car built by 2 different people (neither of
them me) I drive it the best I know how but I really don't know every part like I would
if I would have built it. Kudos for acting swiftly and decisively. Too bad these guys didn't
care about the school who was kind enough to give them a scholly.

Fritz doesn't work 7 days a week; think he's off on Sun and Monday, and comes back for the Tues news conference.

-00-

Curious... with all the attention this party was getting -- we heard about it up in the Flathead -- wouldn't it have made sense for coaches to be saying "DON'T GO -- You know the cops are going to be there as well as the drug enforcement guys!"
