3 Griz Arrested

Even if they all eventually walk on a misdemeanor trespassing charge, which seems to be the very best case scenario here, given the history of problems of members of the team in this community, I hope they are permanently banned from the team. Don't know if that is what the student code calls for but I think it is the right thing to do in this case for both the team and community (and yes, that's just my opinion, which we all know are like aholes). I'm as big of a Griz fan as any but I'm basically done with players on the Griz team pulling this kind of mindless illegal nonsense. Enough is enough!!

Interesting read. Doesn't sound like the homeowner is overly upset. Also, with nothing taken and nothing vandalized, I doubt anyone will end up with any kind of felony or jail time. Never-the-less, I highly doubt any of them play for the Griz again this season. But, if someone wants to post the exact student-athlete conduct code again, more power to them. I feel like I've just read that damn thing too many times.

Uhhh

Glad that it wasn’t worse, his main concern was for his family’s safety.

“When that’s molested, it’s hard to put that back together,” he said.

I think he's plenty upset and he and his family are going to be going through dealing with a somewhat traumatic event. The sanctity of the man's home was violated with all that is precious to him inside. You don't think he's upset?

Those boys are lucky to be sucking air today.

While this won't turn out to be the earth-shattering crime of the century that many Griz haters were hoping for, here's what I don't get, and I will never let booze be the excuse, these are three guys who essentially, in their own way, had second-chances at Montana.

1. KVA, Montana became the place for him to shine, to be a star, and was most likley going to get a shot at the NFL. He was never going to get any of that at Hawaii. And what is sad about his part in this is, he was a leader of this current team, he did and said everything right, and is highly respected. He is was getting a degree, with outstanding grades from what I've been told too. Why? Why would he of all players on the team, even let himself get into a situation like this?

2. Schmaing, Went through hell and back with family illnesses, and was praised over and over for how much he went through to support his family and take care of them, including almost losing his football dreams. Having said that, UM and the football program bent over backwards to help him, to help him find his way back to the program, and the program never gave up on him. Why? Why would he allow himself to get into a situation, no matter how minor it may turn out to be, that would trash all of that?

3. Counts, Joey has been the poster child for never giving up on his dream of playing college football. First, just becoming eligible, then, rehabbing all of those injuries, over and over again. Why in god's name would you even bother to go through what he's gone through, and then blow it all on something like this?

I'm sure these are questions that I'll never get answers too, and these three guys might not even know the answers to the question. But, after thinking about it most of the day, I'm inclined to agree with a poster much earlier in the thread who said, at the very least, it's obvious these guys gave up on the season and their teammates. And that's fine if true. Selfishness isn't exclusive to these three guys. But, what's more troubling to me is, how easily they obviously gave up on themselves and their families too.

The-real-2506, are you reading challenged? Haslam has already suspended them indefinitely.

they will get it down to a misdemeanor by tuesday and get reinstated, judge is probably a fizz fan

I think some of them were going to rent the place once the renovations are complete & just wanted to show their buddies that hadn't seen it yet their new place. Very nice of them to try not to disturb their new landlord at 3 AM. Only they need to be more quiet next time.

wow entered someones house with a ladder late at night. guy was home with his wife and daughters. yea in montana they are lucky to be alive. home owner had every right to shoot that profile when it appeared in the doorway. that is more then stupid that is criminal.

Good to see the eGriz justice system is alive and well. Not even a "guilty until proven innocent" mindset here, just a "Guilty!" mindset while knowing only what was reported in the Missoulian. Remember how that all turned out for JJ?

I'm not saying these guys didn't do it but FFS people maybe we should wait until more facts are known instead of just jumping to guilty verdicts, throw them off the team, etc etc based on what appeared in the Missoulian and is on twitter.

The athletic department thankfully is handling this the correct way in suspending them while the process plays out. Ya know...not immediately jumping to conclusions & wanting them booted immediately.

Or we can just forget the whole "innocent until proven guilty" thing in the U.S. justice system and continue making asses out of ourselves without any info on the situation.

Boot em I say no need to hear there side of the story.

Yeah, who cares about actual justice. If they are accused of something then they MUST have done it! Thanks for stopping by Khamenei.

Now...if I could just figure out which one of you is Kim Jong-Un, King Salman and the other leaders of countries where people are guilty immediately... hmm....

It is kind of interesting many of you guys want immediate action before the legal process plays out exactly like Engstrom did in the JJ case...yet many of you same posters dislike Engstrom for doing that. Huh...

They got arrested for breaking into a house!! Arrested... There is no justification for it! None.. So if they were drunk that makes it okay? I sure hope not. My point is these adults know better! They represent the university! PLUS they know what kind of scrutiny UM is under. There is no room for this type of behavior. ZERO.!

No, actually, first they will get whatever the student-athlete code mandates, which right now, per a felony arrest, is removal from the team. If it comes down, they will start with whatever the conduct code says, but Stitt can go beyond that, and knowing what I know of Stitt, he will indeed likely go beyond that if he needs too. As I said before, I think these three have seen their last game in a Griz uniform this season, and for two of them, ever. Maybe if there were eight or nine games left, it would be different, but, I don't think Stitt will let them play again this year.

2506, you're jut mad because it's already turning out that this wasn't the crime of the century that you were hoping for. Nobody hurt, no guns, no violence, nothing taken, nothing vandalized. When this first came out, you wanted it to be more, and now you're scrambling because it isn't. Thankfully, your buddies on BN aren't even posting how you're posting here. I'm actually very impressed with the comments from most of the MSU fans on BN regarding this incident.

interesting to learn more of the facts as they arise. as havre mentioned, there has to be a reason they'd go through so much effort to get into this place. you get off the plane, go home or whatever, maybe have some drinks (no idea) and then 4 of you decide on a whim to grab a ladder and hang out in some guys guest house or something?! did they think it would be their fort or something? :?

i know there is not a lot to do in missoula or bozeman for that matter....but i have to believe our players can find something to do with their time better than this...

HA! As odd as that sounds that would be a pretty good defense, unlike some times earlier in the day against PSU.

I was thinking maybe mistaking one house for another.....or maybe just really hungry.

I have said it is no big deal, where have I said otherwise, the worst I have said is that "with a $50,000 bond that there must be something "there" there."

Extremely disappointing. Bad for everyone involved starting with the family whose privacy was invaded...bad for the student/athletes now and in their future...bad for the coaching staff and players...bad for the university...bad for the GSA and its members who work everyday to garner support and funds for the athletic programs....bad for the entire State of Montana. Just a bad deal all the way around. I am very disappointed right now. Nothing else to say.

oh what the hell, damn near everything we purchase these days is from China, may as well live by their "judicial" system as well......

Nothing good happens after 11 pm. Didn't Tru get arrested at 2am after a road game as well? You lose, get off the plane and go home. Yes - go home and lick your wounds. I think there was another incident involving a road sign that occurred late in the evening. Last night was Halloween and I get that they are young and want to have fun, but come on. You just got your ass handed to you and you have been around long enough to know that the program is under a microscope. Go home. Not To mention that two of them are seniors. Unacceptable any way you slice it.

Second time this year. Unf&@(#ing believable. Kick them off the team. Stitt needs to make a statement.

Yeah, make a statement before all the facts are known and the justice system has a chance to play out! That's the way to go! :thumb:

I swear some of you guys would be happier living in North Korea. Get accused of something, who cares what your side of the story is, what the facts are, or anything silly like that! Off to the labor camp with you!

Exactly! Why bother with this silly notion that people might be wrongfully accused, or there might be more to the story than what the media says... Anyone ever accused and arrested is obviously guilty of everything the cops try to lump on them and should be immediately convicted on the spot!

Sarcasm aside... I sat on a jury years ago where after the trial was over (and the defendant found not guilty VERY quickly) I looked back and saw that our own local media had dragged his name through the mud and made him out to be a total monster. Oddly enough the actual evidence and testimony of witnesses never made it to the Missoulian articles on the defendant... huh.... They just reported one side of the story and that was it. After seeing the actual evidence and hearing the testimony it became very apparent that this person shouldn't have even been arrested, yet they had their live ruined by the accusations, media attention and all the bullshit that brought down on them.

So maybe, just maybe... we should let the justice system play out a little before we all jump on the GUILTY train believing everything that we've heard so far as fact just because it ended up in the Missoulian.

Some will blame Stitt in 3,2,1...

Stitt didn't get arrested three Griz players did, after the fog is cleared it will be Stitts job to handle the situation, if it hasn't already been handled by Haslam, and Engstrom...

Coach Stitt does not need this BS right now...
