I wonder which Griz fan posted bail for Counts?

Get ready for more NCAA sanctions!

I don't think anybody will be rushing to get these guys out except their mamas.

How ironic if a GRIZ fan posted bail after they helped themselves to Beer and hotdogs?

The NCAA is so mad at Florida State that UM will probably get two more years' probation.

My mom and dad would have me rot in jail for that kind of decision making. Then again, being in jail is sometimes a better alternative than facing mom and pops.

I have to admit, I'm more stunned by the names of the players than the fact that players got in trouble. I will bet a million dollars a number of football players broke the law last night around the country. Underage drinking alone is against the law so yeah. So it happens everywhere and it happened at other schools last night, and maybe I'm just really cynical anymore but I just wasn't all that surprised that Griz football players got in trouble last night. I was just really surprised to hear WHO it was.

Having said that, I have no idea what "the real story" is, but I don't believe you get a 50 grand bond for Halloween pranks and just partying. These guys clearly did something pretty serious and I feel confident they'll be punished accordingly, by the law, the football program and university. My guess would be we won't see these guys play another down for the Griz, ever.

Sad part is, all 3 of them are of legal drinking age (I am not sure about Counts).

Breaking into an occupied home to burglarize or vandalize or whatever they had in mind and scaring the shit out of a family in the middle of the night, by 5 large adult men who were probably loaded...yeah that's kind of serious.

Correction, sounds like one was a girl who showed up late and picked the other 4 up.

All of them are lucky to be alive if those are the circumstances of the case.

I'm with you there. I guess I wasn't as surprised by the names (just because I don't know any of them), but more surprised by the alleged offense? Fucking burglary? Burglary. The ol' entering a residence at night with the intent to commit a felony therein. Who is doing burglaries in 2015? Is this Home Alone?

Boot em I say no need to hear there side of the story. This program and team are on a short leash. Mick did a good job of keeping the team clean and to have these players who where part of all that so this level of disrespect! Nope don't need them. Next man up.

I honestly don't mean to be "that guy," but we don't know if they are guilty, do we? If I missed that somewhere, I apologize.

Do we honestly know anything other than they were arrested & charged? Lots of speculation, but little else until their hearing tomorrow.

No, we don't. Have they even been charged?

I have only read the 1st page here, but felt I should post before reading more. I don't care who you are, athlete, or just a student, this incredibly irresponsible and stupid. If I were Stitt, I would dismiss all 3 from the team immediately!!! WTF? Your team just got it's handed to them, instead of caring about your teammates and asking yourself what can I do better for my team? You are out in the early morning hours making stupid ass decisions!!!! As of being out early is not bad enough, deciding to take part in an attempted burglary take stupidity and irresponsibility to an all new level!!!

To top it off, these 3 are all upperclassman and have been here 3+ years. KVA, do you realize this just cost you 100's of thousands to millions of dollars????? You are from a small school, and then do this. You just kissed off any hope and NFL future!!!! John Schmaing, I get you have been going through some tough times, but walking on the wrong side of the law is never the right answer. Your life just got a lot more difficult and it will take a long time to recover from this judgement. To make it worse, like it or not, GRIZ and Cats fans hold Montana raised athletes and kids to higher standards. The Montana culture does not promote this kind of bullshit. You absolutely were raised better than this!!!

Joey Counts, do you realize how many GRIZ fans have been supporting and pulling for you to get through your injuries and be a major player for the GRIZ? Where in the hell is your head?

Even if these players are found not guilty of the accused crimes, I still dismiss them from the team on merit alone. Being out at this time of the morning/late night doing those kind of activities shows your focus is not on football or your school. The best thing that can happen is to be given reason to reevaluate your life, and being kicked off the team surely should help with that!!!

This is an opportunity for Stitt to make a big statement to his team and community. He needs to make the statement loud, and let these guys go!!!
Good Post

I am guessing that the $50,000 bail amount that was set for these individuals is based off of the maximum fine for burglary since they likely have not been arraigned yet and a judge has not had an opportunity to actually set bail yet. This is what the MCA says about burglary: http://leg.mt.gov/bills/mca/45/6/45-6-204.htm

45-6-204. Burglary. (1) A person commits the offense of burglary if the person knowingly enters or remains unlawfully in an occupied structure and:
(a) the person has the purpose to commit an offense in the occupied structure; or
(b) the person knowingly or purposely commits any other offense within that structure.
(2) A person commits the offense of aggravated burglary if the person knowingly enters or remains unlawfully in an occupied structure and:
(a) (i) the person has the purpose to commit an offense in the occupied structure; or
(ii) the person knowingly or purposely commits any other offense within that structure; and
(b) in effecting entry or in the course of committing the offense or in immediate flight after effecting entry or committing the offense:
(i) the person or another participant in the offense is armed with explosives or a weapon; or
(ii) the person purposely, knowingly, or negligently inflicts or attempts to inflict bodily injury upon anyone.
(3) A person convicted of the offense of burglary shall be imprisoned in the state prison for any term not to exceed 20 years or be fined an amount not to exceed $50,000, or both. A person convicted of the offense of aggravated burglary shall be imprisoned in the state prison for any term not to exceed 40 years or be fined an amount not to exceed $50,000, or both.

What has me confused though is that they actually got a bail set because the Montana bail schedule (https://courts.mt.gov/portals/113/lcourt/training_guides/bondbook.pdf) (page 22) recommends no bond for a burglary charge. They would usually get their bail amount set during their arraignment I think.

But of course, I am not an attorney and so maybe one of you attorneys can explain this more.
