Some context is needed, we played Idaho State (#1 Passing team, dead last rushing team in the Big Sky) and UC-Davis (#6 but down to their 3rd string RB due to injuries) so we can't say we're dominating on Run D, next week will be the true indicator (Idaho #3 behind Portland State and MSU).

No matter what you say or think, UM is the top conference team against the run, by a fairly large margin.

Yeah I can’t wait to hold MSU to 400 yards rushing on late November

TCU runs it and they were in the FBS national championship game last season. What are you talking about? Gubner is the best d-lineman in the conference. Ferris gets re-treads who have gotten into legal, academic or other trouble at their prior schools, but Ferris can and does take them.

Gubner is excellent, but he’s our only true DT on the team. If he goes down who will fill his role?

I never attacked or opposed those facts, I merely pointed out we've played against the 12th, 7th and 6th ranked rushing offense in the Big Sky which means the #s may be somewhat better then reality and we'd have a better after idea playing a top 3 Big Sky Rushing Offense (Idaho). Again don't see how the total truth is an issue or why it's so offensive to you.

Need to look at the teams they’ve played. Pay attention to the details. The majority of those teams are strong against the rush but are weaker against the pass, hence the reason they are 12th, 7th and 6th. Also if you have a good starting qb, you are more likely to pass. One key doesn’t fit all. You seem like the type that cherry picks stats to fit your narrative.

Didn't cherry pick anything, HE was the one trying to Cherry pick by claiming we are the best rushing defense in the Big Sky. All I did was point out additional data he wasn't mentioning using the same source.

The 3-3-5 is a really fantastic system in my view because it is so god d---- hard to get big enough and skilled enough D-Linemen in the western US, especially facing the uphill recruiting battle in our own conference. If anything the 3-3-5 has covered up a ton of the flaws of UM's football program over the years. It only gets truly exposed against an NDSU type program.

ITS FREAKING WORTHLESS

Anybody else notice how almost every single down tonight. We have the three down lineman. Blitz a 4th LB.

All the guards have to do is identify the blitzing LB and boom stone him. And they did all night. It gets old watching every single blitzing LB get stoned and zero pressure on every single QB we play. It’s not even difficult for these teams anymore. The 3-3-5 is once again coaching negligence. It has zero benefits because we can’t get pressure. And it will get steam rolled by running teams like the cats.

We’re literally wasting any numbers advantage with this defense.

What front would you play?

Well we don’t have enough good lineman apparently to run a 4-3. Id be fine with a 3-4 it would also seem to play to our constant strength of this program. Multiple very good LBs year after year. It also allows you to blitz LBs which we also love.

They’re also 11th in passing defense. That says that teams don’t need to run to move the ball. The only team with less attempts against them is MSU. Buuuut…looking at defensive efficiency, the Griz do pretty well. Truth is I don’t care if they’re a “bend but don’t break” type if they win.
