3/23 Scrimmage report

You guys that are bitching and moaning are absolutely clueless. Have you ever heard of phasing in an offense? Or patience for that matter. Why don't you offensive geniuses get out of the stands and go coach, it sounds like you are wasting your talent.

Clueless? I'm not the one advocating the forward taking the snap from under the tight end. We all know that when you do that, the baseball gets hit, and the wickets will never sell with that marketing plan.

I just demonstrated in that sentence, a larger understanding of the game of football than the Mickster.

The offense we saw today is not what we will see this fall. They were running just the most basic sets and plays from under center to get guys comfortable with it again. We will see a lot more variation of sets and plays under center and a lot more pistol than we saw today. Stubby and co, relax and enjoy spring ball. Give the coaches an players time to figure this offense out. We will be in good shape come fall. This combo of pistol and power sets will give the offense much more variation than we saw (and complained about at length) last fall and will be better suited to our personnel. Our offense will be much improved next fall over last fall.

There you go firmgriz bringing logic and reasoning into the equation.  Are you out of your mind?

Thanks brint was not able to make it, but I was skeptical that we would see anything special anyways. Come on, practices are closed and we expect to see special plays!?! :o :? Crazy expectation griz nation.

Echoing the concern about the under-center changes, the last thing this team needs is to overhaul the offense again.

I'm hoping like other people have said that this is simply just getting down the extremely basic stuff they're going to introduce, or to not show too much off to the public.

If by "special" you mean plays that work than yes I guess my expectations are a little high.

Spring ball just started, putting in a new offense is going to take a while. The season is still a long ways off, everyone just needs to chill.

Pretty much. I get a chuckle at those pushing the panic button after the first spring scrim. With all the closed practices do you really think Delaney is going to show it all in the first scrimmage where the general public is watching???

Think about it, guys.

yes, Delaney has shown his brilliance as a master strategic planner and organizer in the past. This is just carry over of his genius ways. Good call on that one.

the offense doesn't need changing....all it needed was a threat at qb.

I want to hope you're right but unfortunately, NOTHING about what I saw from MD's coaching last year gives me confidence that it is so. And that's nothing to chuckle about.

How do we know that the defense really played "good?" Hell, if the offense only ran about 4 different plays all scrimmage, I hope college football players would be able to use critical thinking and figure out what the hell was coming at them...

I just spit coffee all over my keyboard! Thanks

Delaney = oatmeal with skim milk and dry toast. Hopefully the co-OC's bring some raisins, brown sugar, cream and a cinnamon roll to breakfast this year. Chicken little just called and sh*t, the sky is falling! Fortunately I ignored his call since I have faith in the OC's. Give it time. Give it time.
