Good Lord. It's Spring Ball and the fair weather egriz idiots already have us hopeless.
Spring ball always has problems and these will be worked out. Quit bitching about the frosh and the QBs and the coach. All will be tuned in good time. And as for Dennehy's kicking at Butte, watched him all season and he was only average which made his game winner a true life changing miracle. He is a great kid who will probably get a lot of beers bought for him in this town through the years, but he would probably not be the next Carpenter. You want a game changer from Butte? Get Dallas Cook in Missoula.

Dallas Cook will never be a Griz

I fu*king hope he never is.....

Brint, So you are saying we will be fine...
as long as we only play on calm days, and don't need any field goals. :ugeek:

In spring I don't really think one can forecast if a team will be fine or not - this is a time to implement the playbook and work on depth/progression.

"Calm days" occur more often than not for football games. For those who were there, they could attest - this wasn't just a regular windy day. The gusts were very strong - not a common wind/breeze that we see. Pretty rare occasion. Not saying the team would never play in wind, but I don't really recall ever watching the Griz play in wind as strong as we saw at the scrimmage. Probably a type of weather that occurs maybe 4 or 5 days out of the year total.

So what you are telling us is that the weather was like 1 out of every 2 days in Great Falls?

That sounds hopeless too. Why not? He may get some FCS offers but heat want to step in and play too. How do you know all this? I know the BHS coach has a Cat connection but I don't see that as a deal maker. I am assuming the kid is a decent student but know nothing about him personally. I do know he dominated AA football like no one I've seen in a while.

FCS football is below him, just ask his dad.

Yes I've talked to his dad a bit and you are right about that. But reality may be that the FBS offers come from lower tier schools and there will be other QBs ahead of him at any of those places. The kid is very competitive and has that intangible never quit mentality, a cannon arm and the size and strength to play tight end. But he might not be fast enough for a lot of offenses, IMO.

Many of us have played in gusts...it's nearly f.....g impossible as far as kicking and passing go. I'm as big of a nut buster as anyone, but some situations are under center, and impose your will with the running game. I'm sure with DOUBLE co ordinators...we'll be double good  What about Van? did he play...how did he look?? He seems intriguing. :come:

It was announced early in the week that Van would NOT play -- he was injured.

Hopefully, we will get to play more than six games in good weather, and as far as QB's being under center all day long, that's why you have sure handed QB's along with five quality RB's two OC's and a head coach that has problems keeping his headphones on his head and boogers in his nose, however a genius at clock management, and field positions situations on coin flips..

Coaching staff didn't show anybody their secrets thus far, although we at least know that the defense can outscore the offense and with just one coordinator.

Good thing it is March and not September.

IMHO, defense will dominate this season and win games.

I think we need a third and perhaps a fourth OC.
Correction: it is April, not March. I know this because I just wrote a large check to the IRS....

Looking for more time, sorry, also sorry about the large check, thanks for paying your fair share, I paid mine back in February, more than my fair share.

This is typical spring e-grizzing blabber.

Adding more BS (so don't count me in) I observed the following during our period of spring practice:

Punter (Shaw) is next to fantastic and will be a soph. with much more upside potential.
Kicker (Lider) is on the cusp of coming on. When the timing gets perfected between the three involved he will turn out to be very good indeed.
J. Johnson will be the QB to lead us. Second guy in....... I am on the fence with this. Fall will tell us.
Running backs with Van leading the way will be very good. Joey Counts is a young Bull!
#12 Hermanson will perform much better in 2013 without his injury hanging him up.
Our defense will be 100% better than last season. Guaranteed!
Offense? Kefense Hynson wants to pass the ball, Scott Gragg would rather run the ball. I think Kefense wins out and we throw the ball to win and run to take time off the clock. This two headed OC set up could be the down fall of the offense, then again it might work. Most of us would much rather have one coach in charge of the offense. We will know next fall, until then I will refrain from harping.
Special teams must perform better than last year or we will be in deep doo doo.
Looking at the players I see much better talent on this team than I thought we would have. In fact they are very good. Our second guys look very good and I like our depth. We will see a few true frosh play.
Coaching? Not exactly what I want but some of these guys are way better than I thought. Better than last year for sure!

I am sticking with my prediction of a 75% winning season.

+1 Umista. Safeties and corners will not be an issue unless corners are forced to be play 7 yards off the LOS. Lots of depth in the secondary will bode well if there are any unfortunate injuries as well.

Thanks to Duke Energy, so did I....

I would like to personally thank all the Griz faithful for their treatment of my friend who met me there. He's a cat fan and was treated quite well so thanks for making a good impression.
