This transfer reminds me a little of when MSU got John Olmsted two years ago. Power 4 grad transfer who barely played comes to MSU for his last year. Olmsted sat on the bench for 90% of the season at MSU too before they unleashed him the last weekend of the regular season and in Boise with much success.

All I remember are screen and roll dunks that we, and others, just couldn't seem to f@cking figure out.
Sacramento State still has a long way to go to fill out their roster. As far as I can see, they have 10 roster positions or so to fill and they've been in on:
1. Arman Madi (So. SG)-NAU
2. Jace Howard (SF. SR)-Michigan (Juwans son)
3. Yonatan Levy (FR. C)- Green Bay
4. Moustapha Loum (So. F) - Frank Phillips College (Juco)
5. Paxton Warden (Jr. CG)- Lewis College D2
6. Trey Harris (Jr. SF)- Chadron State D2
There is likely more, and there were a bunch of guys that they were inquiring on that chose to stay in Power 4 conference schools.
Part of me thinks this whole roster rebuild can't go well considering how many players they have to replace and in the time frame they have. However that being said it is a very real possibility they could construct a team that would be absolutely terrifying to play because of first Bibby and now O'Neal's presence. Could see a scenario where they are picked in the top of the conference with 14 new personnel. Just insane.

Getting Shaq could certainly help, but like you said, they've already missed on a lot of big time guys. And to be honest with you, as somebody who has never really watched the NBA before, I had no idea who Mike Bibby was. You old timers probably remember him pretty well but how many people my age and younger than me know who he is? At least with Shaq, everybody knows who that is.

He was a highly recruited player coming out of HS, but hasn't seemed to have found his groove yet. He may turn out quite good for Shaq State, if they can keep him out of jail.
Mikey Williams is a hot mess. That he's playing college basketball is a bit of a miracle at this point. He was a top ranked recruit out of Chula Vista his Fr./So. years of high school and was consistently in the top 50 recruit those years. He ran into a boatload of legal problems in high school due to some off the court issues and it cost him a ton. So much so he left San Diego for a NC high school, but did return his Senior year.
He hasn't played a ton of college basketball. Went to Memphis and redshirted and there were a ton of rumors as to why he didn't play (likely legal/NCAA issues due to his HS issues), but he left and ended up at UCF. He played just 18 games (started 5) and didn't play the first 1/4 of the season.
He's insanely talented, scored 77 points in a HS game his freshman year of HS, but he's been an enigma since then. I'd say if it were 2020, Sacramento State got itself a program changer, but I honestly don't know what version of the kid they'll get.

I agree with you, we are taking some big chances....With our president putting us in FBS in football, I guess we will have to dive into the slightly dirty end of the pool to try to get our BB program on track to compete in a FBS conference in the future....Definitely taking risks but seriously, what do we have to lose? I mean last year we tied Weber for last in the BSC (and some of you are touting Weber to be a front runner next season...lol)....

I got mixed feelings about this. I felt like he could've really turned into a weapon offensively for us, but he was just such a liability defensively for us. Plus I used to get frustrated that he was 6'10 and refused to ever get down low and rebound. Regardless though, that helps open up another roster spot which now makes sense why we're still on some guys. I think one more 3 point shooter and one role player will suffice.

Teat was a walk on at Utah. I don't know what he may have been doing over the past year. Maybe he has made himself into an allamerican PG. Shaq State will probably do well with him under the tutelage of the Shaqster himself.

I'm happy for him. Man, I cannot even begin to fathom how hard it would be to be a college student and be a 21 hour flight from home. We're going to Australia in January for the Australian Open and we're breaking it up with 2 days in Hawaii either direction.

He is a long, tall, wing who was in the rotation for 6 games. He shot the ball poorly for a wing, 20% from three, but he only took 5 shots from beyond the arc. Don't know why he only played in 6 games for SD, but he certainly has a lot of question marks. Teams across the country seem to be filling up the ends of their bench right now. A big percentage of the guys committing now will be in the portal again next year, looking for a place where they might be able to play. Most teams won't keep the 12, 13+ guys on their bench. That is, unless they are young and have real potential. That is just a fact of life these days.
This year's portal class doesn't seem to have the depth as in years past. The fact that some of these players are finding a landing spot at all, tells me that.
