Early it looks like this class is better than expected.
Money Williams: we all expected him to be part of the 8 man rotation. Not only is he that, but actually more. The kid is being used at 3 positions (pg, sg, sf). He's often the 2nd option behind Moody. Clearly, he's already earned DeCuire's trust, big time. Surprisingly, he's got a green light to play his game, very similar to Moody. He looked very comfortable against Oregon. He's not shy of any moment. My only concern, how and when does he hit the proverbial Freshman wall? Hopefully, DeCuire lets him play through it. This kid will have huge impact and career here. Let's hope he's not lost to the transfer portal. Likely conference freshman of the year.
Chase Henderson: the expected redshirt year isn't happening. The kid appears to have a high ceiling. He's a true PG. I expect his role to increase as the season progresses. He'll likely be brought on at a gradual pace, more typical of a freshman. For his sake, I hope he gets no less than 10 minutes per game, to justify not redshirting him. Physically, can he maintain? He's still real slender. Mentally, he looks like he's ready. Depending on match ups, I expect he'll see time at pg and sg. My hope, his PG role increases with the season. His playing this season could be a sign of philosophy change as well. Could this decision be the biggest sign of DeCuire be willing to truly test a 10 man rotation more often? I'm thinking so, especially on a few grueling road trips. I just don't see burning a redshirt season to ride the pine a lot.
Connor Dick: looks like he's more than a local legacy kid.
Athletically and skill wise, he appears to be a D1 player.
Like Henderson, a redshirt year was expected. His role will be limited this season. Looks like his minutes will be for energy sparks. At this stage, hard to tell what his role he'll have. I'm happy for him though.
Zack Davidson: he too has long term upside. If there's no major front line injuries, he's redshirting.
Overall, this freshman class appears to be a key class moving forward. I'm surely looking forward to watching their development. Can this class be the class that brings in a DeCuire 10 man rotation? I sure hope so.
