2023 pre Spring Camp discussion #2 - defense and ST

The only thing worse than our qb room is our defense. The thought of them lining up against the Cats or NDSU is nauseating. The most important parts of our defense and offense are our punter and kick returner. Both of them are going to get lots of opportunities to shine.

The Griz will have another terrific defense. Good or reasonable depth where the holes might have been. This is straight from some defensive starters.

P.S. One of my sons plays on the defense and another one helps out the defensive coaches (when he's not practicing the discus). My cousin interviewed for the d-line coach position, but decided not to do that.

According to Hoops, giving up nearly 1000 rushing in two-games is excellent defense. BH was making changes with coaches on D side of the ball too.

These never get old...

[]Cornerbacks[/b]

#8 Corbin Walker, Sr
#14 Robert Whitehead, Sr
#23 Andrew Travillion, RS Jr
#27 Trevin Gradney, RS Jr
#7 Dylan Simmons, RS Soph
#26 Drew Klumph, RS Frosh

Walker presumably opens spring camp as the #1 CB. He was targeted a lot last year because of teams avoiding Ford and got rapidly better, capping off a strong finish to the season with a pick-6 at NDSU. Whitehead and Travillion transferred to Montana last year, but I don't think played a single snap. Will they be ready to contribute? Gradney is a special teams stand out who's done well when filling in for spot duty. Simmons and Klumph are the younger guys - so to say b/c they've been here 3 years. I'd assume beyond Walker anyone has a chance to land the other starting spot.

Safeties

#3 TraJon Cotton, RS Sr
#4 Nash Fouch, RS Sr
#5 Garrett Graves, RS Sr
#9 David Koppang, RS Sr
#13 Ryder Meyer, RS Jr
#25 Jaxon Lee, Jr
#40 Cooper Barnum, Jr
#39 Jace Klucewich, RS Soph
#24 TJ Rausch, RS Soph
#11 Gabe Longin, RS Soph
#2 Ronald Jackson, RS Soph
#19 Padraig Lang, RS Soph
#18 Chase McGurran, RS Frosh
#32 Tyson Rostad, RS Frosh

I thought Coach said that Ronald Jackson was coming in to play CB even though he was a Safety at Akron...maybe during the introductions?

Remember when the mods had to band uptop for a week after making racist comments and when he returned he said he had been teaching professors at Oxford?
That might have been his biggest whopper.
I gotta hand it to some of you bubcat trolls; it takes decades of dedication and no self respect to get back at big bro.
E.g., look at poorcats. Dude is pushing 50 years old and still trolling egriz everyday.
If I “bookmarked” everything he asked us to bookmark over the years, we’d have a War and Peace sized novel of nothing but bookmarks.

Dude loves being racist. Probably wears t-shirts to court hearings and shit.

How about you come back on here and post something relevant when you stop getting absolutely piss pounded into the earth by Missouri valley teams. How many times have the cats been absolutely blown up by North Dakota State or South Dakota State in the last five years yet you come on here and act like your team is amazing.

#catsplaining

They did beat South Dakota State in the semis for a trip to the National Title game.

And the Griz clobbered MSU a few weeks before that.

Wait. Are you sure it wasn’t teaching professors at THE Oxford?

MSU gave up 142 yards rushing per game. UM gave up 154 per game. MSU gave up 7.4 yards per rush against SDS and gained 1.5 per carry.

UM gave up 450 yards rushing against the Cats. UM on the other hand, never made MSU punt.

UM gave up 439 yards to Cats, got clobbered, and the defense played poorly.

Again, UM run defense gave up an average of 13 more yards per game than the Cats. UM defense was 3d in conference in giving up points.

P.S. Are you kids and your kids' doctor friends continuing to violate the physician-patient ethics rules, and blabbing what their patients tell them in the relationship?

How doctors does Utah athletics on staff? I haven't found any in my brief research.

Are you saving the $5,000 you will owe me after the next Griz/Cat game?

Nice report by BW. Any defense is better that we had against the Cats. Why do you think there are so many coach changes? It was needed as that game was probably the worse defense for the Griz in the last several years.

It certainly was not lacking for talent.

I think a couple of the coaches had to start taking minimum required distributions from their 401Ks.

Defensive Line

#48 Hayden Harris, DE, RS Sr
#0 Kale Edwards, DE, RS Jr
#56 Garrett Hustedt, DE, RS Jr
#69 Noah Kaschmitter, DE, Jr
#92 Jacob McGourin, DE, RS Jr
#59 Corby Mann, DE, RS Soph

Corby Mann is not on the gogriz.com roster.

We need a couple of interior defensive lineman and corners. If not this could get ugly quick.

I'm currently writing a parable with screen names. Its hilarious and some people will be able to recognize themselves.
