Not gonna have time tomorrow so we’re gonna post this tonight. I’ve said this before but what you see from Barney at this point is what you’re gonna get. They’re never gonna be higher than middle of the pack just because of all the disadvantages they have. I do like Dante Chacere at QB. Could he maybe help get them to that next level? I personally don’t think so as David Alexander was never able to do it! With that, let’s dive in!
September 2 @ Oregon - L. Nice short bus ride to take on a fellow in-state foe. I believe these 2 played each other somewhat recently as well. The Ducks should be pretty tough this year as they’re led by like 12th year Senior Bo Nix (lol). Oregon should contend for the PAC 12 title this year in what has the potential to be a big year for the PAC 12. Long day for PSU. Ducks win big this year
September 9 @ Wyoming - L. PSU dropped a heartbreaker to San Jose State last year. I don’t know much about this years Wyoming squad, but I can’t imagine they’re gonna be very good (help me out Mr. Titleist). Could PSU play spoiler in this one? I suppose I could see a scenario where they do, but I just don’t know enough about Wyo to say that they’ll lose this game, so I’ll take the Cowboys in a close one
September 16 vs. North American - W. Last year it was Lincoln, this year it’s North American. Where does PSU find these teams at? Sounds like they’re a fairly new D2 team located in Texas. It doesn’t look like they’ve been relatively successful so far, so PSU should blow the doors off of them
September 23 vs. Cal Poly - W. I’m a little bit higher on Cal Poly then many around here are just because the addition of Sam Huard is just so big for them that I think it has the potential to really do wonders for them. That being said, I think PSU eeks this one out at home
September 30 @ Montana State - L. It’s been a little while Barney brought his crew to Bozeman. The cats should win big in this one though
October 7 BYE
October 14 @ Northern Arizona - W. I think when I predicted this game 2 weeks ago, I had NAU winning, I am however allowed to change my mind. I now think PSU will win this game
October 21 vs. Idaho State - W. ISU is gonna be so bad that I expect PSU to blow the doors off of them
October 28 vs. Eastern Washington - W. They beat Eastern last year in Cheney so why can’t they beat them in Portland this year? Close game but PSU wins
November 4 @ UC Davis - L. Here’s where things get tough. I would be very surprised if they won this game. Davis wins big
November 11 vs. Montana - L. 8pm MT kickoff. This feels like a trap game sandwiched between Sac State and the cats. Hopefully we’re on our A game and don’t have a mental lapse. I don’t like the late kickoff in this one, but we should be fine. There’s no excuse to not win this game big time
November 18 @ Northern Colorado - W. A get right game after 2 tough games

I have Portland State going 6-5. That may be a little generous but I do think it’s possible. I’m giving them the benefit of the doubt in that Cal Poly game but I will not be surprised if they lose that game. For the most part, I think they have a decent schedule. They got a winnable money game, they avoid Idaho, Weber, and Sac State which I think would all be very challenging games for them. They do have to go to the cats and UC Davis but they do get the Griz at home, so I do think 6-5 is attainable. If they steal that Wyoming game and finish 7-4, do they have a case to make the playoffs? They’d only have 6 D1 wins, but could an FBS win offset that D2 game? It’d be an interesting argument for sure! That’s my prediction. Thoughts???
