2018 Cal Poly season preview

OK,Brown has won 4 Ivy championships in 74 years, not 100. I guess they didn't call it the Ivy League when Heisman were playing. None of which changes my point that Brown is not regarded as a football threat in any way since anyone alive (except you) can remember. Heisman got his Law degree from Penn, btw.

in 2013, Yale beat CP 24-10. Then Yale lost 5 of its last 7 games.

Heisman also played football at Penn.

As a long time Cal Poly fan I think 2017 was an exception, not the rule. A lot went wrong last season. To start we had a new OC and a new QB. The OC struggled early and so did the QB. Both were starting to find their stride and Jenkins gets injured. He is replaced with a walk on Rfr. We also were hit with a ton of injuries including All-American FB Joe Protheroe.

This season the OC has 11 games under his belt and Protheroe and Jenkins return and we built some depth we all the young players that played due to injuries. We also brought in 7 JC players (including JC All-State and All-American OL Junior Taifane) and two transfers to help with depth. We will be a better team in 2018 and may surprise some people.

Since joining the Big Sky we have gone 7-1, 5-3, 5-3, 3-5, and 5-3 before going 1-7 last season. Like I said I feel it is the exception. I expect Cal Poly to be in the thick of thing in the Big Sky in 2018.

Sorry but, but that’s just a funny statement. You went 1-10 last year...pretty good prediction that you’re gonna be better than THAT. :D

Thanks for the info. Good to know. Ya, last year was weird and a disaster. I was shocked. I hope CP hits its stride and has a great year, starting on Oct. 1.

True. You coming to SLO again AZ?

My point was we will be a team that will more like past years of 7-1 and 5-3 then last year’s 1-7. Last year we hit the perfect storm of injuries and we capsized. I think we will right the ship in 2018.

??? Protheroe is back for 2018 (he didn't practice in spring ball - but will be ready in August).

Held out of most or all of Spring Camp due to injuries were first-string quarterback Khaleel Jenkins, fifth-year senior fullback Joe Protheroe and senior offensive lineman Harry Whitson, who will move from left guard to center this fall.
All are expected to be ready and healthy for Fall Camp in early August.

8 Returning starters on offense
Key Losses: Joe Protheroe FB, SB Kyle Lewis
Key Returners: QB Khaleel Jenkins
4 Returning Starters on Defense
Key Losses: LB R.J. Mazolewski
Key Returners: FS Kitu Humphrey

Yep Protheroe is back and I am not so sure we pull that one out in their place. It’s always a hard fought battle with them especially when it’s at their place.

If we can't beat a team that went 1-10 last year, and who's only win was against an 0-11 PSU team, then we should probably just fold our tent and go home.

Hey AZ, you lost to that team the last 3 times you played them and 4 of the last 6. Just sayin...

Brown was horrible last year, and I assume will be bad this year. Should be an easy win for CP. That is a tough schedule, tho. I'm planning to go to the CP/UM game. Wine tasting.

Hope to meet you PlayerRep.

Those teams weren’t coming off 1-10 seasons.

This is not last year's team.

So if you lose you will fold your tent and go home? That's too bad. I enjoy messing with ya. ;)
