QB Landers Smith. He's a junior, about 6'0" - 190 lbs., and is one of the hardest players to contain in the state at any level. Could be a running back, receiver, linebacker, or safety at the FCS level. One of my favorite players in next year's Montana recruits.

His current Junior highlights: http://www.ncsasports.org/football-recruiting/montana/charlo/charlo-high-school/landers--smith.

Sounds like the Titans have a pretty good qb too.

I think he’s a better middle line backer. They’re fun to watch even if coached by a bunch of bobcats (bignels). Last week the center caught a TD pass.

Browning. Yes, Browning. Is going to the State A playoffs. Anyone have any info on the last time Browning made it to the state playoffs? I can’t remember it.

Also kudos to Glendive clinching and going for the first time since 1999 (I believe). Always nice to see new schools join the State brackets.

Vim what's your take on Seth Schneider and the other 2 linemen from Capital Shuman and Welnel do you think they could be Griz or NAIA?

Welnel is the best athlete of the three Capital lineman (Quick, Welnel, Shuman) but doesn't quite have the mean streak of his older brother Marcus. At 6'5", 250 lbs., there is definitely something to work with there and I see no reason not to at least offer him a PWO to join his brother. He wants to be a Griz.

Shuman definitely understands the mindset on how to play offensive line. He is probably the best finisher in the state as he plays until the whistle. Is a great down blocker in the run game and physical when he gets into a defensive lineman. The only thing holding Carson back from being a full-ride FCS offensive lineman is his foot speed and it shows on film. I still think he is worth a look at the FCS level as a guard or center prospect.

Seth Schneider has the ability and frame to be a FCS running back or linebacker, plain and simple. But again, speed is the #1 thing holding him back from being a sure-fire, full-ride FCS talent. Also again, I believe he is worth a look as a preferred walk-on for both in-state FCS programs. You can't argue with his tape or production over the past two years.

Saw an interview of Schneider today saying he is getting some looks from Frontier colleges at LB. Seth has one of if not the best o-line in the state so his rushing stats will be good no matter what, but I think he could play at FCS level. Doesn’t have the size, and his speed isn’t anything spectacular, but it seems that he has grit, and toughness. Every team need a kid like that

Glendive's last playoff appearance was 1996.

It has been a long drought for DCHS with only a handful of winning seasons since that last playoff year. Congratulations to Coach Ryan Buckley and his assistants for beginning to turn the program around.

Apologies for the wrong year. Makes it even more impressive of a showing. Now anyone out there know the last appearance for Browning? I can’t remember it at all.

How long has it been since Livingston has been in the HS playoffs? We won state in 1975.

Livingston has made the playoffs this decade. They were the third place team from the Central a few years ago, and I believe got running clocked by Laurel. Class A NEEDS to go back to an eight-team playoff.

Edit, Livingston was the SECOND-PLACE team out of the Central in 2011, hosted Miles City and got running clocked.

Browning has never made the Class A playoffs. They moved up to A in the late 1980's. I don't know about their playoff history in Class B

I just remember killing them every year in high school. Won up there on their homecoming, they had a dude ride a horse right in front of us and throw a spear "at our feet". We proceeded to kick their azzes. Hahaha. I remember them being decent some years, but certainly didn't know they have never made the playoffs. Makes sense though, when I played Butte Central ruled the central A, as well as Troy Stoppa, Lance Lanning, and the Havre Blue Ponies. Ahhhh...early 90s memories hahaha

"Making playoffs " in AA and A is not a big deal if you consider 8/14 in AA and 12/22 in A make it.... pretty much just need to be above the bottom feeders. Hell only 4 teams in AA aren't ranked in top 10.......

No problem Hell-of-a-handjob. Sorry Hellgate had a team this year to add more "difficulty" in making top 8 for AA for the Helena schools...a real nailbiter what teams are in top 10 of AA power polls each week I bet.....

Smith would need to dramatically improve his speed to play for the Griz, as a HS Soph he ran:

8th place -- 11.86 -- May 27, 2017 -- MHSA Class C State Championship -- Varsity Prelims
10th place -- 12.35 -- May 27, 2017 -- MHSA Class C State Championship -- Varsity Final

He ran an 11.6 as a sophomore. Think Jace Lewis for a comparison. Smith is also tough as hell.

Lets put it this way, Mac Bignell was no speed demon out of high school but was built almost exactly like Landers at this point in his high school career. About 6'0", 185-190 lbs and they both have similar styles of play.
