2016 Two Deep?

Soon NCAA recruiting "dead time" will be upon us. That horrible time of the year when we have to do things that take away from GRIZ football like spending time with family, thinking about others and all that other crap.

So in the spirit of the season, here is what I think the 2-deep might look like going into spring camp next year. I have included some players who have rumors swirling as to where they will be and I haven't included any of this years recruiting class because of that whole "don't count your chickens" thing. Please feel free to comment and tell me what you think it will look like. Starters underlined

WR: Curran, Henderson, Justin Calhoun, Daum
SB: Carlson, Horner, Lyons, Bingham
QB: Gustafson, Simis
RB: Nguyen, Jeremy Calhoun
T: LaRowe, Reese, Villanueva, Hart
G: Todd, Dietrich, Kelly, Paolina
C: Weyer, Luke

DE: Johnson, Schye, Ralston, Sims
DT: Kidder, Bradley, Peevey, Davis
LB: Buss, Strahm, Banks, Olson, Sirmon, Thomas
CB: Nelson, Sanders, Garner, McKinley
S: Rasmussen, Sanders, Epperly, Dellaserra

K: LaCorre, Greenberg KR: Henderson, Daum
P: LaCorre, Semenza PR: Henderson, McKinley

LS: Smith, Sprunk Holder: Janssen, Simis

WR's I think barring any rumor mill stuff we'll see Henderson, Curran, Horner as the first 3 out. After that Naccarato, Lyons, Daum, or Carlson battling for the 4th spot.

I bet Calhoun hops ahead of Nguyen at RB but both will share a ton of time.

Chalich will probably back Gus up

O-line, it'll be interesting to see what happens with Ben Weyer and Robert Luke. I could see a few things playing out:

- Weyer comes back as a guard and Dietrich goes back to RT which he played last year. OL would then go Reese, Todd, Luke, Weyer, Dietrich

- Weyer comes back as the center and Luke moves to guard, Dietrich sent to tackle.

- Weyer takes over the center job, Luke falls to backup in 2016, Jackson Thiebes gets 1st crack at LT or RT (Reese takes the opposite side) however some younger players may get a shot at Tackle as well...

James Homan looks like he'll fit into the rotation. On film his size and skill-set reminds me a lot of Jamaal Jones. A poor man's Jamaal Jone's that is, but that is still pretty damn good.

Brint, interesting call on the line possibilities with Luke and Weyer. I had forgotten about Thebes. I am also assuming Dellaserra will or even wants to get a medical redshirt for this season, no idea if he does. If he doesn't I think Jerren Williams may factor in. No idea if Naccarato has a place on this team, I hope he does.

I thought it was posted previously that Chalich was tranferring to Carroll.

I think Dallassera was a RS senior. Also think you'll see Bedell in the two deep rotation @ D-end.

Oh? Didn't see that... I know we had a kicker go to Tech to try to be a QB there...

Dallassera is a RS senior but because he was hurt so early he might be eligible for a medical exemption like Ellis got for last year. No idea if that is what he is thinking so I included him on the idea that he might. I haven't seen enough of Bedell to really know much about him, I hope he is a great one but I know Sims has huge potential and Ralston is a stud athlete.

Jerrin Williams is well ahead of the other backups at safety

Good to know, thought he might be. Never get to see any of the practice so only going on what people have said about Epperly in the past.

You know if Semore is the DC, the Griz will play 3-4.

Is that right? I don't know much about him. Is he a guy who uses 3-4 as a base formation? When was the last time the Griz went 3-4 as a base and not situationally?
