Montana opens its 2016 season with a home game against Saint Francis on Sept. 3.

Does anyone else know the dates of other games on next year's schedule?

Saint Francis of the NEC conference and not the NAIA University of Saint Francis who Montana Tech played a few weeks ago.

yikes... this is not exciting, Montana Tech gave them a game a couple weeks ago until the 2nd half.

That is the NAIA St. Francis.
This is the one the Griz are playing: http://www.sfuathletics.com/index.aspx?tab=football&path=football
They're member's of the NEC in the FCS. Still, a big drop off from the 2015 opener :(

thanks biga75, at least it is a Division I game... wow, for a second there I couldn't believe it. It doesn't make sense to schedule games that aren't Division I if you are serious about trying to make the playoffs. I'm amazed at Big Sky Conference teams who continue to schedule Division II opponents or several Division I programs in the same season. If you want to make the playoffs you need as many FCS games as you can get.

Well let's hope that gets bought out. But it's still a DI game, so you can't be too upset. I'm hoping the other home noncon is from a power 5, and then I'll be just fine with this.

Does anyone else know the dates of other games on next year's schedule?

They're listed on the site you linked.

Okay ... but which "St. Francis" is it? Yes, there is one St. Francis that's seems to be at the NAIA level. But St. Francis (PA) is a member of the Northeastern Conference, which is FCS, and has an automatic bid. If it is the NAIA version, then I just lost a whole bunch of respect for our AD -- who has impressed me a lot up to now.

2016 Schedule...

http://www.gogriz.com/schedule.aspx?schedule=108&path=football

Griz are still looking for one game, a home game if they can find one. I really like this schedule knowing Saint Francis is a Division I game and hopefully with the addition of another home game against a quality opponent.

9/3/2016 Saint Francis Missoula, Mont.

so you don't like a FCS team scheduling a FCS team.....and it won't be bought out....

I'm completely fine with the Saint Francis from the North Eastern Conference. FCS vs. FCS is a good thing for the Griz. Griz vs. the NAIA or Division II team is not a good idea in my opinion. I actually really like next year's schedule. Tough games and good match-ups. Look forward to the Griz traveling to Northern Iowa.

Lots of posts to say it was the NEC team while I was trying to research the point (and then it was dinner time here). As I suggested before, I have no problem with bringing in an FCS opponent, even if they are from on of the weaker auto-bid conferences. And, after all, St. Francis did have a winning record last year.

Looked at their website... I feel kinda bad for them. I have been to bigger high school stadiums! Their average attendance is ~1200... Yes I said tweleve hundred!

These guys are in for the time of their lives! Give them a good time and send them home with broken dreams!

They were 1win away from being in this year's playoff! Lost to Dukeness for NEC title.

I say add a FCS team the Griz can kill and call it a Griz to the playoff schedule....
No PSU
msu at home
S. Utah at Home

Have EWU, NAU and UNI on the road...
