2016 Active recruiting period begins today

Expect Griz hoops coaches to be making contact with prospective Griz over the next three weekends, beginning today. Sort of a complicated recruiting calendar that extends through the end of July. It's where coaches often attend AAU tourneys, watch prospective players, and then have the option to make contact and offer scholarships.

This is the time of year where early commits (for 2016) often announce the school of their choice.

How are coaches offering kids over the past 3 months without being in violation?

I'm not an authority on NCAA recruiting rules, but I believe a scholarship offer can be made at any time.

There are, however, strict limits on when coaches can go to summer tournaments, visit homes, make contact with players etc. As I understand it, the three weekends in July are critical "open" recruiting time for coaches to go to the summer tourneys and talk directly with players.

I'm certain there are other members of egriz who have more knowledge of the specifics than I do.

The 2016 offers are pretty highly rated. There are a few 3 stars in it. It would be nice to add 1 or 2 3 stars in 1 class.
