2016-17 Grizzlies Roster Posted

The 2016-17 Montana Grizzlies roster was posted at GoGriz today.... with what appear to be several errors in the "class of eligibility" for those on the roster.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but: I believe Jared Samuelson and Trever (sp?) Spoja should be listed as R-Freshmen, Ahmaad Rorie should be an R-Soph, and Aaron Misapeka-Ward an R-Jr.

Further, Jamar Akoh is listed as a soph (I think he'll be a junior), and Zack Camel's not even listed on the roster.

Hmmm. Clarification, anyone?

Man, calling what they did an update is being generous. "You, freshman! Update this roster on the interwebs!" "But, sir, there is a lot of information missing. What should I do?" "I don't know, just guess."

All of those are correct except for Jamar. He is a redshirt sophomore. And Camel has transitioned from player to manager/video coordinator to get on a coaching track

All info on the GoGriz men's basketball roster page has been updated. One additional item: I did not know what year transfer Donaven Dorsey was (he was initially listed as a jr.), but his info has also been updated: he's a R-Soph.

You are incorrect. He played in 28 games as freshman, and 27 as a sophomore at UW. He will be a R-JR at UM.

Technically I think you're both correct. For the purpose of this year he is a redshirt, making him a RS-SO this year, with two years to play after that.

I have never seen a roster like this -- at least on paper -- at Montana. Of 16 rostered players, 10 are identified as guards (ones and twos) and six are identified as forwards (threes and fours). Not a single true post is identified.

Carry it a bit farther... three of the guards are 6-5, 6-6 or 6-7, lending credence to the three-guard attack the Griz used frequently in the second half of last season.

Two of the forwards (those I've seen play) can play with their backs to the bucket (which means they've got the ability to play at the five), but it'll be interesting to see how much high post the Grizzlies apply this season.

I'm definitely looking forward to the development of this team.

He already completed his sophomore year. He can't remain a sophomore

Verbal Commits website is making roster updates reflecting the beginning of the school year. Noticeable is that Alphonso Anderson is listed as a redshirt frosh for the season. Anyone have any insider info on this?

Actually, he is listed as a redshirt frosh for next season on verbalcommits. On Gogriz, he is (accurately, I hope) shown as a freshman.

I can't see him redshirting. We need him up front. Plus I thought starting immediately was one of the appeals of signing with Montana.

Verbal commits likely has it wrong, although Alphonso did have a small setback after his first surgery. They went back in to repair a very small tear. He believes he'll be ready by just after the USC game.

Very true and just when you think no one caught that one name you said wrong on a radio broadcast you get a couple texts or they stop you at work to correct you. When doing PA if you want to know who a kids parents are say his name wrong they will be the ones glaring up at the pressbox.
