2015 Lakes Lancer ...

Ken Jones

Well-known member
I was chatting with another Lakes Lancer parent and heard that J.T. Colvin, 6'4", 245lbs, Junior, (OL, DL, TE), Lakes, is interested in the University of Montana Football for 2015.

What are your thoughts?

Can you offer him a schollie or does the school have to do it? :)
Has he received any state, league, or conference recognition yet? How long has he started on the O line? That's where will need him if he's any good. Looks like he prefers D though.

In 7 games, 3 of which he was recovering from an injury, he averaged 3 solo and 3 assisted tackles per game. His play earned him all-league notoriety as a junior.

2013 All-SPSL 3A
Honorable Mention (Offense and Defense)
Lakes- J.T. Colvin, 6'4", 245lbs, Jr.

J.T. was an OL and DL starter 'til he broke his foot. He was sidelined for 3 games of the 2013 regular season and started the Lakes playoff games @ 85% health.

In 2014, I'm betting J.T. Colvin will be a 1st Team All-SPSL (Offense and Defense), 1st Team All-Area (Offense and Defense), 1st Team All-State (Offense or Defense) in 2014.

Thankfully, Marquin Russell and Caleb Lyons are Grizzlies. If UofM wants a shot at this kid, having Lakes Lancers football alumni on the team will help.

Do we have a shot at getting Benning Potoa'e and Kemonee Jenkins?
Potoa'e is the #211 overall prospect and a 4 star... not a chance he's already got an offer from UW

for bama griz-- schollie offers have to come from official griz reps -- otherwise big trouble. Look at what's legal for fans ("Boosters") -- and if you have season tickets, you are a booster and have to be careful with what you do with potential prospects. Go to http://www.gogriz.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and check out "recruiting," or "inside athletics" especially the "Compliance" dropdown.

Hmmm, depending on the play of 2014 Lakes Football, the probability of securing Benning Potoa'e for Montana is low, but one never knows for sure.

Although, securing Benning Potoa'e has a snowball's change in hell, there are a host of juniors and sophomore on the edge of high school greatness at Lakes. John Colvin, Calvin Trotty, Maselino Alasi, Jayson Fatur and Kiyrie Simons will be next year's returning starters with Lakes Football.

Lakes, with a 4 - 7 overall record and a key player injury in the WIAA quarter final game, was 2 games short of playing Bellevue for the 2013 WIAA Championship. Additionally, Lakes had less than 10 seniors on the team of 60 players.

Keep an eye out for seniors John Colvin, Calvin Trotty and Kiyrie Simons 'cause they can play at the same level as Benning Potoa'e, but don't have the pedigree.
