Defensively we're fine. We need to start stealing some of your OFFENSIVE recruits.

You already did with Pflug

agree with azgrizfan,,,,we had better have some o/lineman in the works, imo we are in need of a very good class in that particular area.

As each one of these guys verbal... I get the feeling that..

1- The new addition/weight room has had a huge impact
and
2- This is the last year in the Big Sky...
"Sun Belt" better not be the next words that you type...

How about the Mountain West Conference? :)

Anyone in the know:

When these kids come for an official visit, who pays their way? Is it covered by UM?
What actually makes them signed. I know signing a contract, but I had heard many other things?

School does pay for official visits.
LOI, Letter of Intent on/after signing day.

Thanks Grizindabox, but I have one question I am still confused about then. If the LOI is signed on or after signing day, how did Willy Pflug sign so early?

He is graduating from high school this fall/winter and will be here for winter conditioning and spring practice. Therefore he has a different signing date.

Outstanding! Thank you Grizatwork!

And he did not sign a LOI, but a financial aid agreement.

Exactly, recruits that graduate high school in the winter just need to sign the financial aid agreement. But recruits that graduate high school in the spring need to fax in their signed financial aid agreement and the signed letter-of-intent starting the first Wednesday of every February.

grizindabox is also correct on the fact that official visits are covered by the school, it comes out of the yearly football recruiting budget.

This could run into a lot of wasted funds for a program if you bring in a lot of potential recruits and not have many sign. There must be something specific that is involved before they are brought in I would think, does anyone know what that might be if anything?

I believe the NCAA limits the official visits (expenses paid by the school) for athletes to 5?????

Correct. Each prospective student athlete may take 5 official visits which are completely funded by the school. Now, recruits will take unofficial visits to schools during the year and in the summer before, but that is on their dime (another thing the bigger schools want to be able to help pay for)

Reinell, this is why donating to QB Club is very important. This money goes directly to our coaches to pay for expenses to travel and see kids around the country so they build a relationship before official visits.

Not sure if this has been mentioned yet, but I see that Duarte High offensive tackle Angel Villanueva has verbally committed to the Griz!
