2015 Griz Football Recruiting- 4 Transfers/ 17 Verbals/ 4 WO's

Sunset senior quarterback Willy Pflug announced Friday morning via Twitter that he has committed to the University of Montana:

Excited to announce my commitment to play football at the University of Montana! #GoGriz
— Willy Pflug (@willypflug) August 15, 2014

As a junior last season, Pflug was a first-team all-Metro League selection, leading the Apollos to a 7-2 record.

The 5-foot-11, 185-pound athlete lacks ideal D-I speed, but compensates with sound mechanics and a high football IQ.

Pflug had said he wanted to commit before the start of the season, and was excited about his unofficial visit to Montana over the summer, but was expected to take another week or so to make a decision.

In the end, it just felt right.

"Missoula, I was really happy with it. It seems like a great place to be," he said. "I love the fanbase. Seems like they get really excited about football there."

Since the visit, Pflug had developed a strong connection with the Grizzlies coaching staff.

"lacks ideal D-1 speed" ??? Are you kidding me - from the video, it appears that he has excellent quicks.

So, how do we pronounce his name? I assume it rhymes with huge.

Willy, welcome to Montana.

WOW, what an impressive 5 verbals so far. Mick and staff sure are making it difficult to not give him more time, if he wants to stay. Providing the GRIZ have a great season too. It would be a shame for these recruits to not play for the coaching staff who got their commitment. I hope the play on the field is as impressive as this recruiting class is so far.

Why would anybody be surprised? You think this kid wants to play in Cheney or Pullman? Don't make me laugh! Our stadium will be electric!

The Missoulian article this morning also stated that Josh Sandry from Bigfork has verbaled.

He plays QB but will be a Safety at UM.

Quick story about Josh. As a 6th graded when asked what he wanted for Christmas he stated "I only want one thing, a tackling Dummy."

This kid can hit like a train... He is a very good football Player!

Sandry Videos

Skip the QB play to about the 2 minute mark to see him play D

Montana with a couple of nice pick ups today in C Alex Neale & DL Cody Baker from Sammamish (Wash.) Eastside Catholic. Both had FBS offers.

My buddy lives in seattle and his son plays in the same league as Eastside Catholic. He said Baker is a beast. My buddy was all state at linebacker in Minnesota (granted and in the 70's), but he knows a little football.

He also mentioned the are a coming program and lost to Bellevue in the chipper last year with several PAC caliber players. Nothing wrong with a second pipeline from the Seattle area. That these local kids see BC on the verge of making the Seahawk roster can't hurt.

Well Griz, it looks like you can cross a recruit off of your list. James Logan 6'3" QB Christian Leota has given his Verbal Commitment to UC Davis. Not sure if he chose the Aggies for their academics, location, or Coach Gould, but it's a solid get for them.

Good luck with Wyoming. The Ags will tussle with top-10 Stanford next week, where they are unlikely to repeat their amazing upset of 2005 (while just starting to transition from DII to DI).

James Logan Football @JamesLoganHS
"Congratulations to James Logan QB #7 Christian Leota for committing to UC Davis."

Cool. did the Griz land Eric Dungey from Lake Oswego?

We are pretty damn happy and excited in landing Willie Pflug. :thumb:

Why isn't he on the "verbals" commit list here on page 1, or am I blind this week? Has he actually signed a LOI already?
