2015 Griz Football Recruiting- 4 Transfers/ 17 Verbals/ 4 WO's

According to Jayson Williams' instagram, he did NOT commit to Montana while here, even tho he included a photo of him in a #4 Griz jersey. That was less than 30 minutes ago...

Hey, I WENT to Idaho....I KNOW it sucks. And you can call it whatever you want, I'll never understand wanting to spend your college playing career mired in mediocrity. If that makes me a douche, I can live with that.

9 Montana kids to 10 combined new mexicos and Idaho.

Albuquerque is a cool city, in my opinion. I loved visiting there. Plus the Senioritas are plentiful down there. Maybe he likes college baseball and basketball too. Lobos have a college baseball team. As for basketball, "The Pit" is one the best arenas in all of college basketball. If he got to experience a basketball game at "The Pit", it had to blow away the fan experience we sadly have at Montana.

Granted, I don't get the football side of his decision either. I cannot fault a kid for changing their mind. We win some and we lose some with changing their mind. Here is to hoping we get a few more recruits this year to change their mind to Montana. :thumb:
Now that I think about it, he'll probably get just as much playing time there as he would here.

You are right.

When i commented about basketball, let's me correct what I posted. The fan experience can be good at Montana. Unfortunately, these days it is hard to draw great crowds there. Meanwhile UNM basketball games are off the charts.

Gut feeling he will be signing West of us. Hope I'm wrong!!

Finally Mau Enas Official Visit for Montana this Week!

Awesome news, sounds like he is really excited to be coming.

Dang man i wish it was signing day already, Lost Cody Baker to New Mexico, Schlichting to Eastern we will also loose Jayson Williams to them (you heard it here first), Woody Brandom goes to msu, pretty sure Kyon Clark will go to UCLA and pretty sure we will also loose Alex Neale now that he is not coming with Cody Baker. who next

Doesn't really sound like Stitt wanted Brandom, so we didn't really "lose" him; you're probably right on Williams. As for Neale and Clark, who knows...I'm sure there will be surprises, both good and bad, as always come sighning day, but the core of this class looks really impressive, imo.

Since you're counting lost players, you should add in Tyree Range who will choose between Idaho, SDSU, and Colorado State.

I choose to think about the many great players that we will have in this class - and there are many. The losses have been replaced by highly touted commits as well. I don't think we have anything to complain about.

Technically, not sure we ever lost Jayson Williams since I don't think he ever committed here. Also, Neale and Baker were never a package deal. They found out independent of each other that they had both committed to Montana. Neale has been a strong cheerleader for other recruits all along.

I am glad Pflug has already signed and enrolled. The rest of the class just needs to hold now with a few late quality surprises...

Pretty sure he's going to ewu. He posted a photo in an eagle jersey on his visit there too. Confuses me why they post photos like that when you're undecided. I'd be embarrassed to be caught in a cat or eagle jersey.

Calm down you EGRIZERS as it ain't over till it's over! We are on top of the leader board in most fan's minds. Of course we will lose some and gain some but in any event we have a great bunch of young men coming in.

As for Sims, his sister plays on the UM basketball team, his family is close by to watch him play and I am 80% sure he picks UM. But...let's wait until the fat lady sings!

I see the kitties just lost Reitler to Rocky. I know we've been recruiting Wilkes for 2 years are we still looking at him for our OL since he's can play C, G & Tackle??

Have you seen the fat lady's Hudl video? She's pretty quick. Could be a pulling guard. Was a two star, but has been upgraded to 3. Better make our move now. I don't know if we should wait until she signs.

Take a deep breath man. There has never been a year (and possibly not even a school) where every verballed, rumored, and/or potential recruit has been signed. Sorry some of these kids decided to go elsewhere. Yet I'm not surprised. Young men often change their minds, or make poor long term decisions. Getting everyone possible would be great, but it is an unrealistic expectation and nobody should lose any sleep over that.

Overall I am very impressed with all the talented young athletes who are joining Griz Nation. I hope each applies themselves, works hard, and lives up to their potential. If so, there is no doubt they will have great careers and possibly National Championships to their credit. Those are some very gifted athletes who appear firm in their commitment. Looking forward to next week to see how it officially shakes out.
Go Griz! :ugeek:

Now that we have Colin Bingham and The Fat Lady, I say relax until signing day !!! Hopefully, Mr. Sims in Stevensville will decide he also wants to be part of Coach Stitt's wide-open pinball offense.

While we relax, I can guarantee you a group that isn't is Coach Stitt and his staff--they are/will be going pedal to the metal until Wed., Feb. 4 !!!

And for Cody Baker--good luck to him in NM. While I hope he does well for the Lobo's, if he doesn't like The Land of Enchantment and wants to move up the food chain from a wolf to a GRIZ, who knows, maybe he could still wind up in Missoula one day.

Win with class, lose with class !!! (We should still hate losing, but show class to our opponent on the field or in this case, the recruiting wars.)

I believe that while we won't get absolutely every kid we want, we will still have a lot to smile about come 2/4 !!!

In 2-3 years, we will know who the best recruits in this class are, and we will also know how the kids that were potential GRIZ recruits are doing at their schools.

What is that old football coaching proverb, " No college football coach has ever had a bad recruiting class !" I would add to that "on signing day."

For all we know Andrew Harris, the walk-on DE from Glacier, could be the greatest future GRIZ in this class, following in the steps of former walk-ons Marc Mariani, Colt Anderson, and Tim Hauck.

As for Idaho and NM, good luck to The Vandals and The Lobos !!! In the recent past, GRIZ players have played a lot more Dec. football than either of them, and come Aug. 29 next year, both of those schools players and coaches will have the opportunity to watch the Bison-GRIZ game on ESPN.

How anybody could be complaining about our recruit class is beyond me. Some people are dumb.

Who's complaining about our recruiting class? I haven't seen a single complaint on this thread...

I was thinking of recruits in it's simplest form, a graded prospect. I was not thinking about what they will turn in to. The fact is they are ALL unproven coming out of high school. But they are evaluated more thoroughly now a days, and then ranked. I think the "best" recruits (ranked higher based on algorithms and such) will choose bad FBS schools over Griz 9/10 times. It's the coaching and staff that turns every recruit into the players they will become.
I love the Griz class this season. I am bummed on the Baker news.
