2015 Griz Football Recruiting- 4 Transfers/ 17 Verbals/ 4 WO's

Just a guess/ gut feeling:

The next verbal (glaring need for this class) will be a RB
Tyree Range
Charlie Davidson
Sam McPherson
or ???

Would also guess that LB Sawyer Shields will be a Griz...

If he's playing WR, how does this affect Daum's decision?

At UM, Daum will focus solely on the offensive side of the ball, and the receiver’s father said his new coach is thrilled.

“Stitt was really excited when Dalton told him the news,” Rich Daum said. “He said he feels like a mad scientist because of what he can do with that much speed at the ‘Z’ receiver.”
Stitt can’t comment on recruits until they official sign. National Signing Day is Wednesday, Feb. 4.

I've been offered a preferred walk on spot at Oregon, I'm still a Griz but what an honor! Wishing them luck tomorrow #goducks

A roster spot offer at Oregon is quite the honor, Cy, congratulations! Thank you for choosing the Griz, you will be an All-American here :!: Not to mention a multiple National Champion.

I am rooting for Oregon tomorrow night as well in the FBS national championship game. Because Cody Carriger, from Butte, Montana is on the Ducks. He is a Sophomore, and was playing early in the season with a torn labrum. But eventually had to stop and have surgery. But he'll be on the sidelines cheering on his teammates.

Supposed to be visiting Montana the 23rd along with many other recruits, that may change now.

Looks to have answered the above question. Onto the next guy, frees up a scholly, still have some good o-line commits.

That's what I was afraid of. Time to MT beef up the line.Watched film on Wilkes from CMR,
Looks like he'd b a good inside guy, looks like he likes to hit.. A All State guy from MT
Can't be all bad. We need beef no matter where there from!!

Dalton Daum is recruited to play the Flanker (Z Receiver):

Flanker (Z Receiver)
NFL Definition
What does Flanker Mean?
A type of receiver in football that lines up behind the line of scrimmage, usually on the side of the tight end and the opposite side of the split end. This type of receiver is also known as a "flanker" or "wide receiver". In a certain position, the Z receiver will also be referred to as a "slot back".

Flanker Definition
Sporting Charts explains Flanker
A Z receiver will be lined up off the line of scrimmage. Due to his speed, the Z receiver will get to catch a large number of passes. Secondly, the Z receiver's position on the right side of the quarterback means that a right-handed quarterback will pass to him instead of across his body to another receiver. During a running play, the Z receiver will have the responsibility of blocking defenders. A Z receiver can be placed in the position between the split end and the left tackle, at which time he will be referred to as a "slot back". Even though the Z receiver is referred to as a "slot back" in this position, the Z receiver still has the exact same responsibility.

Interesting on Schlichting....he's been one of THE most verbal "supporters" of other recruits on twitter....sometimes you wonder what a coaching staff could say to make a kid change his mind on the spot like that...

Yep...with coach Stitt move complete, and coaches on board, time to go to work and finish this recruiting season strong. As far as the BSC, Montana is by-far the most stable program going forward. Baldwin will move on, and Ash will not survive much longer. Both of those programs will transition coaches in the next couple of years if not sooner. This year's recruits will have an opportunity to thrive with the Griz into the very bright future.

I agree, we are the lightest in the BSC in OL, & social media rumors points to more fish jumping back in to the waters. We have several great MT OL available that I think would be
Great fits here. Rumor for the kitties that there is a few more jumping ship too!

I was thinking the exact same thing. From all that he was saying, he would have been one of the least likely to de-commit. While I'm excited to see the Ryan and Daum commits, I really want to see some top DL and OL commits. We still have to get it done up front.

I still count two:

C Alex Neale 6'3" 290 (Eastside Catholic) Bellevue, WA (3-Star)
OL Angel Villanueva 6'4" 290 (Duarte HS) Duarte, CA (2-Star)

Can't help but think that he got caught in the emotion of losing his position coach, Scott Gragg. If they had a bond then I'm not surprised one bit to see his defection.

I find it interesting that Schlicting's decision comes not only after an EWU visit, but also consultation with the Lord. Gragg is a big faith guy. Maybe his departure played a role.
