2014 UM at NDSU

I believe we're making plans to go to Laramie and Fargo. Laramie is a definite. Apparently bdizzle would like to be picked up in Billings for one or both of those trips. Going to be a great fall.

So, whos all up for a train ride from Shelby??

No shit. That sounds like a blast. I may have to think about that one. From Butte I suppose Havre is my best bet to hitch a ride on the train. Kurtis, What do you think?
This would be awesome!! I'll probably catch it in Havre so I'm not back tracking to far. But Amtrak sounds like a good DD!

Is Havre closer to Billings than Glasgow?
I'm not sure on that but I do know that Havre is a major fueling stop and lots more people get on and off there witch makes for easier pickings for seating. We usually hang out in the lounge car anyways. Better drinking atmosphere.

Hammer

How long does the train take to get there, any idea? Yes I know I could contact AmTrak. Trian might be cool...only train I have ever ridden on was in disney land. Booze car to boot...could be a blast...

Thanks Grizcountry420:

Looks like we would catch the train in havre...$208 round trip for two...how are the booze prices? 11.5 hours is a lot of booze...can you bring on your own bottles? Probably be 20 of us or so...

Im not sure about the booze. I thought about riding it from Whitefish but 17.5 hours on a train might be too much for me. It would almost be easier for me to fly out of Missoula but i have to choose either the Wyoming game or this game. I cant afford to attend both games, so I dunno...

I can fly out of Missoula to Fargo for $262.00 round trip

reinell, I'm going to seriously consider this. Have some friends I may get on board also.

I looked at leaving on thursday from havre and returning sunday. The train arrives in fargo at 0238 Friday morning.

Griz Party in the Lounge Car! I think the east bound gets to Havre around 4pm so that would put us in Fargo around 3am. The liquior on the train is kinda spendy. $5 a shooter and they will run out with a crew of Griz fans headed to Fargo... but... you can bring your own on board. The only reason why I know this is because we (gf and I) rode from Havre to Whitefish one year to visit my folks and when we got to Essex we hit a boulder. We were stuck there from around 8 pm til 3 am. Thank god I snagged that 5th of Apricot Brandy and a liquior store in Havre. We partied while we were "on the ground"/derailed. I was tryin to hide the jug everytime the conductor or Amtrak employee came by and finally one stopped and said that hiding it wasn't necessary because we could have our own booze on board. So we did shots of Brandy and smoked e-cigarettes (can't smoke on Amtrak) til they finally got another locomotive up there and the rail fixed to get us down to Whitefish. I've rode Amtrak a few other times and that was the only time there was a delay. Any other time I've rode the train we were always on time or early and were allowed to get off at places to get fresh air.

Going to this game really drunk is the best way to deal with what is going to happen to us when we get there. Seriously, drink what you normally would then add 5 more, its going to be a long weekend.

420 posted a link. I'm deciding on how to go aboit this. I'm in Billings also. Havre is probably the best option. From the sounds of it there is a new airline here that covers Montana and all flights are $50 each way and there is a direct flight to Havre. The only thing I'm worried about with flyin is if I can get on the plane after the ride back from Fargo  But I'm leaning towards Havre but just not 100% on witch would be closer, Havre or Wolf Point. Havre is a major station and more seating will likely be available when boarding.

Hopefully the Griz can put together a better scheme than last year otherwise I might agree with ya. But I've got high hopes since Square Head State is losing 24 seniors and 18 starters. Yeah, I know they rotate a lot but what team don't? 24 seniors is almost half the roster. I think I read that only 12 are stepping up as seniors. Thats a grip of juniors and sophomores on that squad next season against our senior majority offense. We'll see what happens I guess...

So, after today's game, how does it look for this game next year? :ugeek: Without that top offense, I say we are good. Griz all the way

Looking forward to the game next year vs. Montana. It will be tough losing all 24 Seniors, but hoping for a good game, and having a few drinks with some Griz fans! Good luck next year!
