2014 Bobcat Season Prediction

This is the season of truth for Bobcat Football. 2014 could be very telling of where the program is and where it's going.
If the Cats have a bad season any momentum the '09 class helped build over the last few years is history and the program could be in trouble.

GAME 1
@ Arkansas State L (42-24)
-The Wolves record last year was: 8-5, 5-2 (Sun Belt) with a bowl win over Ball State 10–3 (7–1 MAC) in the GoDaddy bowl. I see this being a pretty tough "break in" game for a new QB.

GAME 2
BLACK HILLS STATE W (66-7)
-Black Hills State is a very bad D2 team winning only 3 games last year and going .273 on the season. This game will be a joke and won't tell us much...

GAME 3
CENTRAL ARKANSAS W (48-42)
-This should be an awesome game. Both teams are coming off identical .583 7-5 seasons. Both teams played SFA last year. Central Arkansas dominated SFA putting up 66 points and holding the high power SFA offense to 31. The Cats lost to SFA 38-52 but it's worth noting they were without DM. The Cats really need to win this one considering Eastern, Sac, Poly, PSU and Montana are still left to play. I'm predicting a barn burner giving the Cats the edge @ home.

EASTERN WASHINGTON L (45-28)
-Eastern Washington 12–3 (8–0 Big Sky) is on top of their game and their 2013 record shows it. The Cats get them at home but the Eagles should once again be tough and put up some impressive offensive numbers.

NORTH DAKOTA W (30-17)
-North Dakota 3-8(2-7 Big Sky) was bad last year. Their only wins came against Idaho St., Northern Colorado and a D2 ...plus they'll be breaking in new head coach...plus they're @ MSU...

@ Sacramento State L (42-27)
- Sac State had a couple really close losses in '13 and ended up 5-7(4-4 BigSky). Sac State is starting to get more competitive but they just lost their head coach. He was replaced with Weber State's 2013 coach who lead the Weebs to just 2 wins last season...I still think the Hornets will be tough in '14.

@UC Davis W (21-17)
This will be a good one. UC Davis went 5–7 (5–3 Big Sky) last year and
tend to play the Cats tough @ home.

WEBER STATE W (31-21)
Somehow Weber beat SFA 50-40 last year. Weber also played the Cats tough which surprised me considering they went 2-10 (1-7 BigSky) in '13 but this year it's @ MSU and I can't see Weber winning...

@Cal Poly L (45-20)
Cal Poly went 6-6(5-3 BigSky) last season and could make even more noise this season.

PORTLAND STATE W (36-21)
The Vikings went 6-6(3-5 BigSky) last year and had some impressive moments. MSU should take care of the Vikings @ home.

IDAHO STATE W (38-17)
The Bengals went 3-9(1-7 BigSky) last year and won't do much better this year...

@Montana L (35-17)
The Griz went 10-3(6-2 BigSky) last year. In 2014 the BigSky runs through EWU and Montana. JJ will go undefeated against the Cats in his career.

Regular Season Prediction: 7-5

It will be interesting to see who gets the QB start after DM. I hear Priapism will be hard to beat!

I hear the only thing one can do with Priapism is beat it.

I don't think your predictions are way out of line, but I predict a 9-3 reg season, maybe 8-4. If we do lose the games above as you predict, which is possible, the only thing I'd adjust is points given up. No way in hell that the defense we have in 2014 will be giving up 40+ to those teams. Depending on how healthy we can stay... our D will average anywhere from 15 to 25 pts given up per game.

His predictions for those teams who "could" put 40 on your team are in no way out of line. Arkansas State has the talent to do it. Eastern Washington will very likely put 40 on the cats. That offense is a well-oiled machine that the cats and most everyone else couldn't stop last year. Sacramento State can put 40 on the Cats because they have Saffron at QB and he is probably in the top 3 quarterbacks in the conference behind Adams and Johnson. I'm not going to say whether Cal Poly will put 40 on the cats, but it's a possibility... not as strong of a possibility as the other three, imo. But like you said, the key is if your D can stay healthy. If not, giving up 40 pts to those teams is definitely a real possibility.

Specifically, the EWU offense touched the ball 8 times and scored 8 TD's against the 'scats in '13. :lol:

The only for sure win I see is black hills state. 1-11 is a very real possibility. I hope I'm wrong, but I'm usually pretty spot-on with this stuff.

I think portland will be tougher than people are Expecting this year. I say the vikings walk away from the cats. Also think that they will just be Cats and Lose at least one more cuase they always take a dump at swome point so I say 5-7 same as above but losing to PSU and Central Ark
