2010 class, who is on board now?

Well the 2010 class is confirmed now, combined with a great season, great returning talent in Selvig, Cherry, Qvale. My Questions? Who is on board now? How excited are you? What more has to be done for Montana Basketball to return? How close is it to being back, possibly at the highest level ever the next few years?

As for me, I have supported LK and now Tinkle from the get go, and every coach but Kennedy. I believe Tinkle's learning on the fly as a coach is beginning to pay huge dividends. The talent he has assembled is unbelievable for Montana. The talent is on the verge of finally having justified high expectations. Possibly even expectations of the best 4 year run in GRIZ history. I have a feeling that run started this past year, and after struggling to find ourselves early in 2010, from Jan 2011 through 2015 GRIZ basketball will be special.

What are your expectations? What do you see in the future? What more can they do for your support? How much do you support them as of today? I am as excited as I have ever been, despite losing AJ this year.

For the atmosphere to truly return....they have to get the students on the floor and get the media back up in the boxes so the students are right on the court. Don't know why that hasn't been done.

I would REALLY like to know how you propose "getting the media back up in the boxes" since those "boxes" were removed when Dahlberg was remodeled. The courtside Press Row is on the opposite side of where the students used to be anyway. Been to a game lately?

Didn't the whole court used to surrounded by bleachers...back in the 80's and maybe early 90's? That is what I meant...get the fans right back on the court. Sorry to piss you off so early in the morning f*&kwad. Haven't been to a game in about month and a half....f(*kwad.

i think montana basketball is in good shape for a lot of reasons:
1.) tinks's stature has a head coach is growing, undeniably so. he's shed his assistant's mentality, the image as kyrsko's caddy. he's made good hires, has this team playing defense, and now proved his ability as a recruiter. remember, it all starts at the top, with the head guy. our head guy is gettin' to be pretty damned good. were that we had the resources and the administrative okay to give him the sort of long-term contract butler just gave brad stevens.
2.) thanks to the recruiting, we're getting much quicker and more athletic. john wooden transformed college basketball by stressing quickness and pressure defense over height, and while we've had some quick athletic players over the years, never had we had them like we do now. you put cherry, jamar, steward, young and autrey out there, and you've got some serious athletic talent. and that extends to our bigs as well, selvig and qvale. these two are remarkable athletes for their size.
3.) montana has tradition to draw on, both recent and historic. our last two trips to the big dance we've won a first round game, and shown very well in the second. of course, for roughly 25 years, from 1975 to 2000, montana had a great tradtion. this counts among alums.
4.) griz athletics is still the number one game in town, no competition from pro sports. as the economy improves, some of those football fans might have the extra bucks to attend a few basketball games. we might even be able to pass the hat for poor grizmayor, who has been taxed to the poorhouse, and can barely afford the gas to get to missoula.
5.) finally, as much as we might crow about this incoming recruiting class, the cats are not that far behind, if at all. they've got some real talent in this class. weber and northern colorado are recruiting lights out as well, so the rivalries will become intense. that's what puts butts in seats.

When does the schedule come out? Hopefully the BSC has some good NC games to help boost a seed if a team were to have a good record.

I have always been on board yet frustrated. It has taken me this long to get over the blow out loss at home to Portland State a couple years ago. I am so far on board I am upgrading my seats and going to try to get back down on the floor to wake up the casual corporate fan.
I have been a critic at times this year but always tried to respect the kids. I think Tinkle has come a hell of a long way and his decisiveness has vastly improved. His use of Hasquet outside the paint drove me up a wall two years ago and I think this year was different the way Selvig was used as he had the perfect combo of inside- outside game.
I am really , really pumped for this team. I think Selvig and Qvale can match up with anyone and if we get even one 4 that overachieves we are golden. We are set for guards for years. Raised the bar indeed Wayno!

Is the money there when the seats are empty? I was able to buy a fifth row seat near midcourt the week of the Griz/Cat game last year. I understand that UM WANTS that money, but it doesn't make as much sense when there are a lot of empty seats down low.

I've seen game video (on MontanaGrizzlies.com) of Autry and Jamar, and I am extremely impressed. These two high level state champions are the real deals. Athletic as all get-out, and lightning quick. These two alone are a major step up in talent level that the Griz are used to signing and will eventually have us ranked as a high (top 10) mid-major. Throw in Cherry with these two and I don't think there's ever been that much athleticism in the backcourt in the BSC. I don't know though, I am more of a football guy.

Add in Weisner (also saw video on MontanaGrizzlies.com), a hot shooting, outside or in, 6'7" fella! He's got skills and is good now, but if can get better over the years LOOKOUT.

Tinkle is high on Reader, having said he was the most physical big guy in the West that they saw. Haven't seen game video on him, or the two JC recruits though. However Art, from Wyoming, was the two-time high school state tourny MVP in Wyoming. Must be a playa.

I'm no basektball guru, but I can tell talent (in any major sport)... The Griz have improved in recent years and this class is first class! The only problem Tinkle has will be seeing how these SIX new recruits blend and meld together with the returning athletes.

GO GRIZ, BACK TO MARCH MADNESS!!!

I like how Autry, Jamar, and Steward are all supposed to be athletic shut down defenders. Griz should be outstanding this year defensively with tenacious perimeter defenders and two 7 footers blocking and rebounding.

Things are about to get very interesting in Big Sky Bball...4 teams have had the best recruiting teams ever for their schools....UM has the cream of the crop, and, I believe, the best coach for a number of reasons....I hope the schedule next year is challenging, and the year after, even more so, as the Griz are on the threshold of being one of the powers in the West...gonna be fun....success usually breeds success and lots of kids like what they see at UM....

WHOOOOAAAA... wait a minute!!! did City make an economic forecast that included the notion that as soon as someone gets a $6.15 job at Quickee Mart, they're buying tickets to Griz basketball! Freaking Aye!!! If Obama can win a Nobel prize for just getting elected, then City should get some votes too for his sunshine and roses prognasticating and the proper use of such income... I like the way you think C-Griz... Last I read, Missoula just lost 400 well paying jobs... yep, that local econ is tipping forward alright. Good call, City. What time is your alarm set to go off?
And #5... what the hell is this BS about us playing the Cats, Weber and the Bears, I thought George and Weezie were coming to Missoula cuz we're "MOVIN' ON UP, TO THE TOP"... laladeeda... just sitting here in my Cardboard box reading the latest issue of Fortuneless 500, thought I'd pass that on to the MENSA crowd on eGriz. I think I just had another sighting...

heh, heh, my-bore, you wouldn't know an economic recovery if it fell on your head. if you're brooding over the loss of 400 jobs, you must have been in a free-fall funk the month your guy left office, and the economy dropped 700,000 jobs on the heels of the near collapse of our entire financial system two months earlier. nice handoff, there! we've quit shedding jobs, small businesses are beginning to hire again, as are chase bank and u.p.s., and anybody who studies economics knows that jobs always lag any economic recovery. of course, you'll never learn that from your oracle, ruper murdoch's crypto-fascist howdy doody over there on feaux news. the last thing they want right now is a healthy economy.
