2009 Griz Football Recruiting List

I just thought overall (UNC) was a better place for me," said Morton, who was offered a scholarship by Montana. "It's possibly going to be my last four years playing football, so it's good that I will be able to have my family and friends watch me. They also are a rebuilding program, and I think I can help them."

Really? Scout and Rivals don't list that offer. Is there any outside confirmation other than what the player says? And if we did offer, was it a half? Inquiring minds want to know.

Scout and Rivals get there info from the players too. Its an NCAA violation for the school to release that Info.

The kid probably didnt give scoute and rivals all the info once he made a decision

damn straight. we can worry about the cal polys, ewus, wsus and jmus of the world for about 15 weeks out of the year, but the other 37 weeks are dedicated to making fun of msu. they've hit a new low by losing timmer to us. this is like if ray lewis's kid went to florida.

It was reported on the 10 p.m. news that Josh Pelczar has verbaled to the Griz. Pelczar of Billings West is a first-team all-state CB and Punt returner. He was also ESPN's Montana male track athlete of the year in 2008.
KTVQ said Pelsczar's mother confirmed he verbaled to the Griz. He's passing up a track scholarship to Notre Dame to play football for Montana.

Here is a QB that Montana and Cal Poly are after. 6'2" 185 Ken Johnston from Carmel High School. He was a four year starter. Ken threw for 2,342 yards and 27 TDs as a sophomore, 2,877 yards and 20 TDs as a Junior and 2,667 and 35 TDs and only 7 INTs as Senior. He has offers from San Diego State, Air Force and Montana.

He visited SDSU two weekends ago, Montana last week and Cal Poly this weekend. His father was the starting QB on the 1980 Cal Poly football team that won the DII National Championship. His oldest brother played at Cal Poly and his older brother will be a Jr LB on next years team.

I see that Delancotti committed to CPSLO, and the Griz have added a QB as well, wonder if this kid might be on each team's back burner right now...

Could be. San Diego State and Air Force have also signed QBs. I would like to see him at Cal Poly. He comes from a great family and he has started for four years and brings a ton of talent and experience. One thing I know, it is hard to have too many good QBs and easy to have too few.

*** NEW VERBAL***

Michael Sylvestre DT 6'2" 260 4.89 Hamilton HS (Chandler, AZ)

Montana has 4 scholarship QB's. That's unless the kid from San Diego is being brought in to play somewhere else. But I'm pretty sure 4 is the number of QB's the Coaches want. Three on the roster and one redshirting. A fifth would be a waste of money that could go towards a more pressing position need in my opinion.

I'm not seeing many OL commits, one. They lost three guys and they should replace them. I'm looking for 2 more OL commits Wed.

Five WR's? We only lost two. I've got to think 2-3 of these new WR's will actually be DB's for the Griz.

Things should heat up starting on Monday... Signing day Feb 4th, 2009

FEB 2-5 DEAD PERIOD

Dead period - not permissible to make in-person recruiting contacts or evaluations on- or off-campus or permit official or unofficial visits.

Detailed information about recruiting is available in the online edition of the NCAA Guide for the College-Bound Student-Athlete.

So, can they call each other (coaches and players) during this week? We are coming down to the wire.

Forgot about the Zack McRae commit. We have 5 Qb's now. I doubt they will bring in another unless they are considering moving 1 of the guys to another position.
