2009 AA Football

Grzftbl, did you make it out to watch Miller play? I'd say contrary to your prediction the game was far from over at the half. . . in fact it was 15-8. Miller is an out and out stud football player though aside from one long catch and one long run, he was relatively kept in check. He definitely is a different breed of athlete than the typical 17 year old Montana kid. Still I thought that aside from just one run West did a good job containing him.

Thats what makes a kid like him special. EVERYONE knows who is getting the ball yet he still makes that ONE run or catch. With two minutes left to go in the third quarter HHS held him to -3 yards and no touchdowns and were winning the game. 10 minutes later he had around 100 yards rushing and two touchdowns and Capital was pulling away. Everyone knew who was getting the ball but couldn't do anything about it.

Miller's stats, according to the Billings Gazette:

Rushing yards: 45 carries 643 yards 11 TDs 14.3 yards/carry
Receiving yards: 28 catches 419 yards 3 TDs 15 yards/catch

GRZFTBL and I were on the sidelines for this game and West didnt contain him, Capital just didnt use him as much as they usually do. He was a decoy more in this game than others I have watched.

Miller had 200+ yds of total offense last night against Sentinel. And only played a little more than 1/2. Seems like he is pretty good.

Preliminary report is that Ben Roberts broke his hand last night also.

I left very impressed by Sentinel, they battled to the very end. Lots of nice athletes overall. Capital played it pretty tight to the vest last night in anticipation of playoffs next week. The Stanford coaches were in attendance last night as well.

Nah, that argument doesn't hold water. He had 15 touches against West which is the second most touches he had in any game this season. Only game he had more was 17 against CMR. Further, until a 4th quarter TD, Capital was only up 15-8. It seems to me like the week before Coach Murphy said that when things are tough you've gotta give the ball to the stud. 7 points is tough. They did get the ball to him.

Which sidelines were you on?

Was in Helena today for the Helena High / Sentinel game. Helena won. Their RB - Nelo ________? is a load. Very good, very tough to bring down.

Big news going around was that Capital's Matt Miller pulled a hamstring last night. Heard everything from it was very minor to it was a very bad pull.
