Beecher has good speed. We need that at CB.

Rivals

Beechers bio says he was timed at 4.38 in the forty. He'll be running track for Montana also.

UPDATE! :

Great time ~ good food, wonderful film clips, best recruiting class ever & Bobby only said we'll win the next FIVE conference Championships.

He also mentioned wishing the game in BozAlamoangeles would have lasted at least one more quarter so we could have just kept kicking the shit out of  the poooooor kittens! (Just kidden)

Sounds like a good time. I wish BH would have said the next 5 National Championships!

Listening to coach Hauck at the halftime of the basketball game, he states that Trumaine Johnson was one that we stole at the end.

On a side note, it was interesting to see coach Hauck so relaxed and at ease. It seems as if he has grown into the job more and more.

The Griz now have one 3-star recruit listed on scout (the JC LB Bauer) and many others previously not listed have now been added to our commit list. But they are still missing Sam Gratton from our list. He is a 1-star recruit in their database.

How can anyone say this is not an excellent recruiting class? We have 10 2-star recruits and five that received a numbered ranking.

This is only one source of information, but I like the way our class stacks up against many of our peers according to scout.com.

interesting that those Colonial teams have gone up against multiple fbs offers for their recruits and got them... not like 10-20 kids... just 3-4, but still... some of them have 3-5 fbs offers and still chose fcs... jus interesting :twocents:

Funny how Trumaine Johnson is rated a 1 star and Bobby said he was a great, last second, signee..

Probably because he played QB his freshman year instead of WR, perhaps an indicator that he's a team player and one of the best athletes on his team.

ESPN has him ranked as a 74, which is tied with Matt Lipski as ESPN's highest ranked UM recruit.

ESPN has him ranked as the 3rd best FCS commit at WR, behind a Delaware and a Prairie View A&M kid.

I'm not arguing whether the kid is 'great' or not... I do find it interesting that he's been recruited as a WR, yet he played QB his Sr. year... seems to say he's a better WR than QB and maybe most schools and recruiters/scouts saw him as a QB

Let's just start chanting "TJ" (Trumaine Johnson) right now folks! He's a playa (will have a great 4 year career).

He was ranked just two positions down from a LSU signee and ahead of another LSU signee by 8 positions. The kid has skills...

I was looking over some recruiting stuff from this year and I noticed that ESPN is pretty high on a few of our recruits.

Like I mentioned before, Trumaine Johnson is ranked as the #3 WR recruit in FCS.

Lipski is the #1 OT recruit for FCS.

Brandon Beecher is the #2 CB recruit for FCS behind a Winston-Salem player.

Dan Moore is ranked as the #3 RB prospect behind a New Hampshire and Ga Southern player, rated HIGHER than Louis Bland.

It should be noted that Beecher and Johnson are barely on the scout/rivals radar. These might be a couple of our best signings and they aren't even factored into the "star-total" that so many use to compare classes.

UM signed some of the best prospects in the country, at the FCS level for sure. :twocents:

I think you are kidding yourself if you think that these kids choose 1AA over 1A (or whatever they are trying to call it these days). Either they were an academic risk, never actually had an offer yet reported one to scout, or waited too long and fell through the cracks (which could happen to a few kids, but I doubt it is very few in the entire country).

I looked only a Georgia Southern and they have a kid with supposed offers from:
Florida
Va Tech
and about 5 other MAJOR programs.

No way these kids choose GS over these programs. You've got to be kidding yourself if you believe that...

I believe the particular player you are talking about was reported to have academic issues. And if you read the headlines on the left of the profile, he was evidently committed to UF at one point but then failed to qualify. I don't think a player can just say he has 7 offers and scout is going to print it without verification.

http://uab.scout.com/a.z?s=364&p=8&c=1&nid=3056770

I can't speak for other schools, but there have been Griz players with no academic issues that have chose UM over legit offers from schools like CSU, Air Force, Wyoming, Idaho, etc . . . Mike Cummings, Shawn Lebsock, Bagley, Troxel, Fisher, etc . . .

I do believe that there are SOME kids who willingly choose I-AA over I-A ... because they know they will play rather than being bench warmers for four years ... because they like the atmosphere of a smaller school ... because for a thousand other reasons. NEVER, ever tell me no kid ever chose I-AA over I-A, because I know that NOT to be the case.

Your correct in saying that. Kessman could have chosen ucla, fresno or nevada. He didn't want to sit another year and said he wouldn't even consider a 1a school.
