I just stumbled into the 2005-06 preseason prospectus at
The Official Site
http://www.montanagrizzlies.com/teams/basketball.stm

Down the page a fair bit; in the commentary about the positions-

Power Forward
Straight 6-8 250 has added 20# over last season :o
Hasket 6-9 245 :o

Center
Sefert 6-10 up to 270# :o
Van Vilet 6-10.5 250#

Those weight gains seem incredible.
If true the opposition best play nice.

Did you notice on the roster last fall signie 6-2 Ryan Staudacher is not listed and if you go to the "new griz" section he is also not listed there. I guess he was a no show?

Hasquet did gain a ton of weight this summer and it is all good weight not fat.
Strait transformed his body the most this summer, he looks like he locked himself in the weight room and force fed himself steaks. He is ripped.

Coach talked highly of Ellis, this makes me wonder, who is the odd man out. We now have ellis, matthews, martin and criswell, for 2 spots. just a thought.

none of this affects criswell. he's not a point guard. if ellis starts, matthews and martin get time at both one and two. the interesting guy in this equation is the freshman, austin swfit. they were going to try him at point, but i never saw him as a point. i even think he'll wind up a three.

by the way, any word on any of the rooks--sharp, swift and van vliet?

explosive-what time do the GRIZ practice and is anything going on Saturdays? Also, how do Sharp, Mayes and Ellis look?

Early morning practice around 7 every day. Sharp is playing as expected, very solid fundamentaly. Ellis kinda reminds me of a nate robinson because of his stature but is also a natural leader and great competitor. Mayes should be a solid contributor. He can get to the rim with his athleticism and also has a pretty darn good stroke.

Reports of Dlouhy getting fat are bogus. He gained a lot of strength this summer but not a lot of weight. Going back to my prediction last year, Dlouhy is gonna be a contender for Big Sky MVP. I don't think there will be a more complete player in the Sky.

"the insider" is providing all of the "fat Dlouhy" posts. insider- if you are making this stuff up, (e.g. "8 months" pregnant), please knock it off.

Van Vliet was only out for one year I believe but I agree he looks good. I caught a practice and the knee doesn't appear to be bothering him.
