I don't think they are laughing in Bozeman!

Fish was kind of embarrassing to watch. Lots of screaming and yelling and wandering around the court. Big "team photo" timeout meetings on the court. Bunch of little munchkin managers (was one of them an asst. coach?) haul out 10 chairs while Fish tucks in his shirt then starts yelling!

He looked quick to demean a player and was quick to blame them for missing "15 layups" in the loss. "We'd like to play Bozeman middle school?" WTF is that? The Cats were about to get doubled up 51-26 at one point then did show a little pride in cutting down the deficit some.

I wasn't impressed at all with Fish's style. I know Huse had some challenges but this is what they got to replace him?

life is always easier when you take responsbility for your own actions, and stop blaming others. if i'm the coach, this is my team. these are my kids. i've coached 'em up. if they don't perform, most of the responsbility falls on me, the coach. kids are kids. they're gonna make mistakes. and if i don't have any pac 12 kids on my team, then it's up to me to go out and get some! don't blame these kids. i've never seen fish in action, but this doesn't sound good to me.

but i've never been a big fan of screaming, self-aggrandizing coaches. i don't care what bobby knight has achieved, i'd like to throw a chair at him. i'm from the phil jackson/steve kerr shcool of coaching. another reason i like decuire. the few games i've seen, you don't see him ranting up and down the sideline. the focus is on the team, not him. oh, and if mr. fish doesn't yet know it, decuire will have two pac-12 players on his team next year, oguine and breunig. maybe three, if krslovic continues to develop. then he'll really be screaming!

We've been pretty lucky in recent years, to have what I consider "real" coaches -- Robin, Wayne, Mick and now, it appears, Travis as well -- guys that the teams really look up to, admire and respect. The kind of coach that can do some chewing, but in the right context at the right time.

The "screaming in the face and chest bumping" isn't it.

And if De Jong manages to develop during this very good year, working out with a great coach and players like Breunig and Krslovic at his position, and leadership and role models like Gregory and Weisner, Fish will be chest bumping his office wall.

Under the circumstances, Fish not returning phone calls may be the best thing that ever happened to De Jong.

IMHO Mario Dunn is easily a "pac 12 player."

Been trying to find the article where he said those and not having much luck. Got a link? Not doubting he said it, just want to read the article before I facepalm any more about his public attitude towards his own team.

Yeah, the cupboard was left pretty bare by Huse, but holy shit there are better ways to handle it than how he is apparently handling it. Sounds like a lot of throwing players (or the entire team) under the bus.

PG, I remember seeing the quote somewhere online, other than egriz. I wish I could remember where.

From the Missoulian:

290th Brawl of the Wild matchups

...

It would be hard to blame Brian Fish if he’s feeling a little beat up right about now.

The first-year Montana State men’s basketball coach has watched his Bobcats lose their last eight games, including one last week in which they led by 19 points.

On top of that, Fish has to bring his Cats to Missoula on Saturday for the 290th Brawl of the Wild. The Bobcats also have an eight-game losing streak to their rival Montana Grizzlies.

“If we could play Bozeman Junior High, I’d play them right now,” Fish said with a chuckle.
