2 Coaching Mistakes

Both were huge and there was one by each team.

First - Bobby not having the team ready and set up for the fake punt by NDSU. Watching from the NEZ you could see the whole right side of the D line set up on the LOS and crash down to the middle. They should have set up with our normal D and expected them to go for it, either with their usual O or with a fake punt.

Second - The Bison were crazy to go for a trick play on the failed two-point conversion that ended the game. Both O-lines were playing well enough to allow their teams to get 3-5 yd rushes pretty handily at that point in the game. NDSU even more so than us. Thank God they went for some tricky play that was way off the mark and Corbin Walker was all over.

Luckily their coaching mistake was costlier than ours.

Add: Bobby going for it on 4th and 2 from the 50. Should have punted and tried to pin them deep. Instead, it lead to 3 NDSU points.

Add: Having the wrong kicker in for the 45 yard FG try. Glascow hit from the same spot earlier in the game. Instead Bobby used Ramos who does not have than range,

I'll add one each.

Bobby switching to Ramos who missed two 40 yarders last week after Glasgow nailed a 45 yarder earlier in this game.

Entz not going for two at the end of regulation. I thought for sure they would.

Not as egregarious imo especially #2. I would guess that Entz thoughyt that they likely could stop us from scoring a TD and our FG kicker was shaky by then so the odds were to tie it up and then get us.

I don't know about anyone else but it sure felt to me that when the 2nd OT came and they headed down to the NEZ Crazies, the team had a second burst of energy. I sure felt it.

Both pretty egregious mistakes imo. I'll also agree with the previous poster about the Glasgow/Ramos decision, Ramos hasn't had it if late, and that distance has always been a stretch for him even when he was on.

One interesting note: on the post game interview, Bobby said that NDSU's 2-point play is actually a play that's in our arsenal. We copied it from them and even call it "bison". So glad Entz and co opted for that play! I thought they could've easily just pounded it straight up the gut against us at that point.

I'm always amazed at what tiny things can do to change a football game. This one had a bunch. Cliff managing to fall on the fumble with 4 Bison around that would have given them great field position. The top rated efficiency QB in the FCS overthrowing 2 or maybe 3 wide open WRs for sure TDs.

Add to that the 2 dropped passes that hit Byezun receivers right in the hands. NDSU fans can complain about whatever but the team had chances and didn't deliver.

I was fine with the 4th and 2. Not fine with Ramos out there on a 45-yarder…that was a bonehead move.
