1st scrimmage re-cap

I hope you're right but I have my doubts. The kid has a very powerful leg. There is no doubt about his strength and I don't doubt that he spent all summer working on his skills. Yet he does not have accuracy. The only consistency I've observed is his tendency to hook the ball. At this point in his career, after a full year as the starting kicker, accuracy shouldn't be an issue.

As for kicking, I am concerned. Lider has a very strong leg. He redshirted already. Is that right? If so, going into your 3rd year in the program, consistent accuracy should not be an issue still. It has to be mental for him. As for other kickers, have not seen them in person, and no idea where their problems are with. I honestly hope the GRIZ give Shaw a look. Honestly how much worse could he be?

Thanks for the summaries everyone. Praying we get our kicking game together. Could it be problems with snapping? Hard to believe 3 kickers would have the same problems.

Remember when Brody arrived? How many PAT's did he kick the ball into the ass of the center? Quite a few times if remember correctly. I think Lider will get the kinks worked out and become a very good kicker for the Griz.

I agree! I don't want to have to say our poor kicking was the reason we didn't beat you worse than what we should have! :thumb:

Be careful Wild Cat because the bobcats' two recent wins over the Griz had you number one qb playing against what should be considered the Griz number 2 qb's. You barely squeezed by with a victory in those two games. Actually the Griz lost the 2010 game more than the cats won it.
Assuming JJ stays healthy. he will give another clinic in the litterbox on how to be a champion caliber qb in the FCS just as he did in 2011.

Don't think Van played running back at all last year at Marshall. Why do you have to be so negative? Did you see his run, and catch, last night? Have you seen or been hearing the comments about him?

Yes, he's the same Van that was offered a scholarship by Florida, as an athlete, out of high school.

Travon came to Marshall with high expectations. He was rated the 7th RB in the 2011 class. Van hurt his knee in the 4 game. And was never the same in his freshman or Sophomore seasons. The last game Van played as RB for Marshall was the 3rd game of the 2012 season when he had 13 attempts for 15 yards.

Marshall just had to many good RBs sitting behind Van, to keep waiting for TV to turn it around. With Kevin Grooms 4 Star, #5 RB in the country, Steward Butler 3 Star, 1500 yard rusher his Sr year and 4682 in 4 years and Remi Watson 3 star, 1200 rusher his Sr year.
