12th seed

I can't understand why anyone would think La Tech is over-rated. Even the Griz coach thinks you should have been a 2 or a 3 seed. If the Griz played the same schedule, beat a #1 seed, had the same record, and someone came on here and said we were over-rated....the same people saying the Techsters are over-rated would be having a heart attack.
 
Pollsters do look at how a team does later in the season. That 20 point loss came very early in the season (early december). And then two weeks later they beat another 1 seed. Just the same, La Tech got revenge over Rice and and then demolished them in the championship game, proving that the loss to Rice was just one bad game. Even the the number one seeds have bad games. Is there an undefeated team in the country? La Tech only had 2 bad games, even though one was against a 1 seed. I don't recall anybody saying La Tech deserved a 1 seed now. And a 7th place ranking in the polls doesn't necessarily translate to a 1 seed. But, La Tech could very well deserve a 2 or 3 seed based on their record, win against a top seed, and they dominated their conference (except for one bad game).

La Tech should have been at a minimum a 4th seed.
 
C'mon yall, sure we lost to Rice, but we came back and killed them twice. Plus I have never heard of any teams in your conference including Montana til now. Losing to Tennessee is no big deal. Has Montana not lost a game to a great team? Good basketball teams play good ALMOST every night.

This will leave me open for some smack but...... true dawg 4 life what conferance does latech play in? If you say WAC or Sunbelt I'm going to :lol: :lol: my a$$ off. By the way in Kansas City my secretary came from latech, Susan McBride do you know her?
 
Just how bad do you think the WAC is? It is not the SEC, but it certainly is a respectable conference.

Some WAC teams:
Hawaii
UTEP
Fresno St.
Boise St.
SMU
Rice
San Jose
Tulsa

All of those are known names.

Rice, the only team that beat us (an avenged OT loss early) lost to Stanford by 7 points.

I make no excuses for that loss, but it certainly wasn't the end of the world. We had a bad game.

No, I don't know Susan McBride. There is nothing wrong with the WAC, at least its not the Big Joke. Woops I mean Big Sky, sorry. Anyway, Tech has a very good shot at being in Conference USA in a couple years.

or something like that
so how can you laugh at our conference?
 
True Dawg, that's the attitude that mid-major teams rely on to upset big name teams. As much as I don't like the lame "Big Joke" crack, it's exactly what it takes for an underdog to surprise a great team.

Now even though I would count LaTech a major team, they definitely come from a mid-major conference. The RPI rankings between Big Sky an WAC aren't all that dissimilar. Yeah I may have heard about some of the teams listed, but not because of women's basketball.

Boise State? They got the blue field.
Hawaii? Nobody knows Hawaii for sports, unless they get to play there.
UTEP? There men's team got an at large bid this year and still got seeded at 13.
Fresno State? Houston Texan QB Carr is from there.
SMU? Only football team to get the big axe from the NCAA.
Rice? Awesome baseball team.
Tulsa? Don't know how I know Tulsa, but somehow I do.
San Jose? Sorry...don't know 'em.
Nevada? You couldn't even remember Nevada.

Yeah I'm just messin around with all the trash too(it's pretty fun). I'm sure Tech did do a real good job with Susan, most people that go there come out very well educated. Good luck to ya'll too, I hope we have just a bit more of it though.

Nobody seems to shoot a very high % since the remodel job. I will stick with the lower score.
 
It will be very very difficult to keep us in the 60's. I think your team is going to have to score more to win this one. We have had some awesome defenses thrown at us. Some can keep us down for a short time, but we will go on streaks that will make you dizzy.

This should be an interesting game.

Our strengths:
Fast Break Points
Points off defense
Post Play
Rebounding
Forcing turnovers
Speed and athleticism

Your strengths (what I have gathered from reading):
Transition Defense
Slower pace
Half Court offense
Very few turnovers

A weakness that I have gathered is rebounding. With our forward and post, we will kill you on that.

Anyway, we seem to counteract each other at every turn. This should be interesting.
 
I don't know why ppl pull up a lost to Rice in OT is bad. Rice is good. They are way better than most of the bottom seed teams.

Champion, Tech will control the game. Montana will be shock how fast the Techsters are in person.

Who will guard Frierson, Obaze, Smith-Taylor, Crain? Also we got some depth on the bench.

I'm expecting 15-20 pt blow out, Pepperdine 94-60 and Ohio State 74-61 last year couldn't keep up with our girls in the first and second round, i'm expecting the same with Montana this year.
