...118 game thread...

I think Griz got out-rebounded .... and certainly didn't shoot foul shots as well as Miami

But still managed to pull it out

These kids must have sniffing their own poo poo for funsies listening to how good everyone thought they were.

Hopefully this reminds them people aren't going to run and hide from them due to Kenpom numbers lol.

This was a game when the coaching played a big role too, I think, in terms of matching up players and dealing with the weird way the refs were calling the game. And just dealing in general with a good Miami team. In the first half the Griz seemed to be struggling, but they got reorganized well at halftime

THX! I would like to thank everyone on the first game, because I had to work. Everyone posted an excellent thread on the first game!! I’m at the Grizz bar in Seattle and we switched over to the BB GAME, after the FB game.

Man that was an ugly game, just foul crazy, travel crazy mess, but our depth showed as we had more guys that could step up and make an impact. WOW we got totally smashed on the boards though...if they didnt get some many second chances we win this by 10, but really showed how much we need Akoh to clear some space. It could have been bad if they had a legit offensive post player. We weren't just outsized down low something was wrong with the block outs because it seemed like they always had 2 guys directly under the rim. We were short on big bodies but we shouldn't have let them have 3 guys in the free through lane for every rebound opportunity. At first it felt like all the rebounds were going to thier guys until i realized there guys were the only ones down there. Hopefully, its a game were our young bigs anderson and kramer can learn from thier lumps and use it as a way to mature quickly. I would have liked to see Carter play just for his size, we needed someone to just occupy some space forcefully down there tonight.
All that said Im not sure if there is a lot to really take from this game cause it was whistle after whistle and just got kinda weird but if I had to say.
1-Our Frosh bigs are a big drop off from Akoh and without Akoh they are not really a 2nd option, and more like a 3rd. The second option seemed to be go big at the PF spot with Dorsey and Moorhead and big at the PG with Ogi and Manual.
2-Rorie is steady and always ready to be THE GUY but doesn't force it, and he was the difference, had a lot of different parts to manage tonight and he made sure that ran well and then chose the right time to call his number down the stretch
3-Manual and Dorsey can be guys that make open 3's which was something we didn't have last year.
4-Our FT shooting is bad and getting almost bad enough to start costing us games, that was really what kept this game close...getting hammered on the boards was bad, but make 5-6 more free throws and game is in hand coming down the stretch and not such a uphill battle all game. I was worried we would fade down the stretch just because it was such a uphill grind all game to get ahead and get even.
5-This is HUGE win for the program, I know its only MIAMI of Ohio but they are a solid team from a Good Mid-Major conference and its really big for Griz and Bigsky to show that our Good teams can step out and beat the middling teams from other conferences. BSC is technically Mid Major but really we are a full not below conferences like the MAC, the worst teams from that conference would step into BSC and challenge for titles so its for the selection committee to see that BigSky best are good enough to that they can beat teams from the MAC and probably be a good team even in that conference.

Good summary

Hopefully it was a good learning experience for our young guys because they got a lot of playing time

Where’s the Griz bar in Seattle? I know where there’s one in Kirkland.

I had to listen to game ,great comeback win but radio cut off before Travis interview...any good comments? What happened to Timmy? no action in entire second half? Anyone have any answers? Thanks ...

Pub 85 in Kirkland, to be exact.

Anderson came in at the end and had a great block and tipped the reb to moorehead. They finally put him after we got hammered on the offensive boards. He has a lot of upside. The more playing time the better for him. Rorie did what Rorie needs to do get us buckets when we need them. He is so good.

I was wondering the same thing. I didn’t see the first half.
