10 NDSU Players Plead Guilty

10 NDSU players plead guilty to election fraud, a misdemeanor. Get deferred sentences, apparently under plea arrangements with the prosecutor. Only 1 to be suspended for a game, and that may not be all related to the plea.

Brutal consequences; ten players guilty; one player suspended one game.

I wonder if the NCAA will get involved here - they were paid for work which they did not do - isn't that what got Quinn in trouble in Oklahoma?

If the employer knowingly paid them for not doing work, and employer was a booster, then yes, I think it would be a violation. Looks to me like they scammed their employer.

Exactly. There better be an investigation into this. Hell, if Pryor got in major trouble for selling some signed balls and jerseys, these guys should be in at least that much trouble.

There are no consequences as far as game play. One player got suspended from playing Youngstown this game. All other discipline will be "internal." They were defended by Bruce Quick, one of the best defense attorneys in the state, and a huge NDSU supporter. Mr. Quick defended Coach Bohl a few years ago, pro bono, when Bohl got caught advocating highway safety for the North Dakota Trans. Dept., while he had so many speeding tickets that he was considered a habitual offender. Mr. Quick received season tickets for his services.

Two referendums came off the ballot as a result of the actions of these football players (but also others working for this particular company). That process takes years to do, and like MT, ND's legislature only meets every 2 years. Is it a bit surprising that the Fargo area is not too upset about this? Maybe they haven't been following our story too closely.

I don't think your trying to do this on purpose but it seems like you are defending the punishment they received, when in reality those referendums shouldn't have been on the ballot in the first place.

I have to admit that I'm not up on the life on the razors edge that is No Dak politics but why would the opinion that the referendums shouldn't be on the ballot have any bearing on the guilt or punishment for these players?

Not really. Fargo is not a wine and cheese society like Missoula. The Feminazi would be tarred and feathered and sent out of town on a rail. They like their football. Okie-dokie; Ya! Darn tootin'.....

are you asking me or cody?
If me: it's my understanding that it isn't an "opinion" as you state at all; its a fact. Had they not forged signatures, they would not have had enuf signatures to get the referendum on the ballot. It was cody that i thought was downplaying the "punishment" (of having the refs removed). Maybe i should just shut up.

No, not at all! I misread your post. I see what you were saying now.

I'm not sure I understand what you're saying. But for the actions of the voter fraud, the two ballot initiatives sought to legalize marijuana for medical use and to establish an outdoor heritage fund would be on the ballot come November. The Fargo public does not seem too upset by the fact that the players' punishment, from a football perspective, is minimal, and in some cases advocate for no punishment.

The legitimacy of the ballot initiatives was not discussed, that's ND stuff. The nub of the argument is why the North Dakota public may/may not be putting their football ahead of other values, in this case ballot initiatives that take years to formulate? Is that type of thinking what happened in Missoula, is that bullsh#@, are sports fans just too terrible of moralists to formulate a cogent opinion, or is this just too much philosophy for egriz to handle? That's what I was saying, or at least trying to say.

No offense, but when did UM fans all of a sudden become proponents of more punishment and more NCAA involvement?

One standard for all, not selective enforcement. Applies to Griz, Bison,...Cats. Everyone.
